An unobtrusive personal amplifier I like, but with reservations
This works well up to a point. There is oodles of volume and I haven't needed the volume right up. The batteries are rechargeable, which is a great improvement on previous models, in my opinion. The belt clip looks flimsy but works well and the amplifier unit is small and unobtrusive. It's controls are easy to use.On the other hand, I don't think the 3 band filter makes sense. The high pitch booster produces unpleasant screechy sibilants at high volumes without amplifying any other pitches. The middle one is boomy, and, as for the low pitch booster, I wonder how many people are deaf to low pitch sounds. It needs a non-filtered output, like the previous models as well as the 3 filtered choices. Finally you still have to contend with amplified irrelevant sound as well as the speech or music you really want, so the result can be more cluttered and annoying than the original sound.I think you have to find the sound situation that works for you to make this a worthwhile purchase, ideally a quiet place where speech, etc, is too quiet for you to hear without the amplifier.
