Sharp and sturdy.
Great value for money, aesthetic block too. These knives are not messing around. They are VERY sharp. The handles feel good in the hands and the variety of sizes are ideal for any meal preparing you have in mind. Overall very pleasing set.

Great set of knives.
This is a really great set of knives for the value. I would recommend them and I would purchase them again. Good quality and nicely designed. The design on the blades stands out more in the pictures on Amazon than it does in person, a lot depends on how the light is hitting it. The design on the blades makes them look like a much more expensive set than they actually are. The quality of the knives seems really good and with proper care I expect them to last me many years. I had no problems getting all the knives to fit into the block. Pretty much any knife review you read there are going to be people complaining about the knives rusting. Lots of knives say they are dishwasher safe, but they are not. Knives like this rust and lose their edge in dishwashers. As soon as I'm done I run them under the faucet to get any food particles off, wipe them down with a paper towel and then dry them off and put them back in the block. They are great for slicing vegetables, meat, and that kind of stuff. I would recommend trying to chop down a tree or prying open cans with them.

Great for your first apartment!
You get several sizes/styles with this kit. All done with a pretty damascus pattern in the steel. That pattern is made by blending two different types of steel, then acid-etching it to bring out the different colors. All it does is make the knife prettier, it has very little effect on the hardness or sharpness of the material IN THIS CASE. Because they only made a few layers. If they had folded the steel over about 70 more times and made MANY MANY more layers, then perhaps it would have an effect on the mechanical properties of the metal. Remember folks, this isn't a katana fit for a samurai, it's just a kitchen knife set.But yes, these knives are very sharp, if you use them RIGHT they will stay that way since it comes with a sharpening tool. This is not "the best" quality knife set, but the price is nice so if you are moving out of your parents' house and need your own kitchen tools, this is a good set to try. It even comes with a whisk and some spatulas but the block doesn't have slots to store those.NEVER leave a knife dirty, NEVER leave it wet, and NEVER clean it in a dishwasher machine. Doing any of those things will degrade and corrode the steel, dull the blade, and ruin your knives. HAND-WASH ONLY, and do so immediately after use. HAND-DRY IMMEDIATELY after you wash it, too.NEVER leave a knife in your sink or in a pile of other dirty dishes. Because the next person to come along and try to use the sink (might be you or someone else) doesn't know it's down there, and they can cut themself on it. So please, be a good roommate and wash it, dry it, and put it away immediately instead of leaving it where it can accidentally hurt someone.

These Knives are Great!
I have a set & my boyfriend has a set. We both love using them. They stay sharp. No more need to use a sawing motion to cut a tomato. My friend came over and commented how she loved using my knives. So I got her a set for Christmas. These knives make food preparation a breeze!

Good value for residential use.
Overall this is a good set of knives for the money. You could spend $300 or more to get a better knife set. For day to day residential use, these will suffice. The laser etched faux damascus striations are lightly visible. The handles are comfortable. The factory sharpness of the blades is ok. The knives will slightly hang and shave hair. The steel has enough carbon and rigidity to produce a very sharp blade. The cutting edge isn't well polished. If you are looking for razor sharpness, it wouldnt take much effort to polish the edges to a mirrored finish using an ultra fine stone and leather strop. I'm just not into maintaining this level of sharpness on kitchen knives. I havent used these enough to address whether or not they rust under typical kitchen use in a busy household.Edit: After putting the knife set through standard use in the kitchen to include sitting in dish water for periods of time, there are no signs of rust. I don't run through the dishwasher in order to maintain blade sharpness.

You get lower quality than you pay for
Knife block was damaged and scuffed as if it had been dropped on its side, the knife slits are not straight, the logo on the block is missing; unlike the ad picture, and the damascus pattern looks as if itβs lasered on and not a decent job. You get what you pay for I guess but I was expecting it to at least be average.
