Lacked the "something" new
Always an interesting topic to read about, but I was disappointed there was nothing new included. It was abbreviated version of several other books on the market.

Terrible waste of time
Such a disappointment. If you really want the story, don't buy this book. This was poorly written and didn't treat Henrietta or her family with compassion. You get what you pay for!

Not the book
This is just a factual book on the HeLa cells. Very short. If you want to read the story of HeLa and Henrietta's family, this is not it.

Poorly written-not for use with students
In just reading the first chapter, the way this is written is offensive and poorly written. From p1 , parag 3: "At only 14 years she gave birth to a son, Lawrence Lack, and five years later in 1939 she bore a daughter, Elsie Lacks. Both sired by Day Lacks.Parag 5: "It is while at Maryland that they got three more children; ..."I had wanted to use these with my middle school students, but with these references to "siring" and "getting" children, as well as the poor grammar and sentence structure, this book was a waste of $3.00.

Very good.
I was very pleased to have a book on this lady and her family. Since I have cousins in this part of Virginia I contacted the oldest one and she knew Mrs. Lacks family very well and is aware of the story. She said that it is a true story.
