DEWALT DW5249 1-Inch x 12-Inch Carbide Hammer Drill Bit

Pretty amazing what a proper bit can do for concrete drilling! It ate through about 10 inches of masonry/concrete in about 2 minutes or so on my standard hammer drill. I used my trusty old hitachi DV18DL Hammer drill (Going on 8-9 years of service at this point) with this bad boy of a drill bit and drove right through that cement wall. I used it to install an external spigot. Total project cost was just shy of 90 bucks. It would have cost about $300+ to have a plumber make a few cuts and crimp some fittings in place and crawl around in the crawl space. I don't actually mind messing around in the crawl space. It's quiet and your wife and kids don't chase you down there! :)Total project time was about 3 hours and it was made that much easier with this drill bit making such quick work of the concrete.It's a wonderful bit and I have a few other projects lined up for it. At least on first drill, it drove through as advertised in a proper hammer drill without issue.

I needed to drill a hole thru cement block to add a drain line from our new Hybrid water heater. The 3/4" pvc was just a hair larger than this, so I used the bit to drill the hole, and ream the hole a little larger. Whole time spent, probably 7-8 minutes. I used a 1/2" hammer drill to power this and it cut thru like powdered butter. Best purchase I made, instead of taking the cheap-way out, I bought the right tool, at a fair price. I may never use this bit again, but its in my drawer, and ready for my next project.

I was installing a hose bib in a new location and had to drill through 11" of block and clay brick. Mounted in a cordless Dewalt hammer drill this bit chewed through the wall in about 5 minutes, much easier than I was anticipating. The bit eagerly ate the concrete but slowed down substantially on the clay brick. There was hardly any wear after the hole I needed was complete. I don't need a 1" hole in masonry very often, but this bit will still be ready the next time I do.

This worked perfectly for large holes I needed to drill in my brick fire pit for venting. I was worried that it would dull before finishing the first hole, but I was able to complete a total of 6 holes through the width of new/used brick and fire brick.

I only have used it once so I can't speak to longevity but for initial quality it was great. I used it with a small hammer drill to drill into a patio paver and there was no issue at all. I would say it took about a minute to get through 8 inches.
