Battlestar Galactica: The Remastered Collection [Blu-ray]

Loved this show when it was on tv and now I can watch it whenever I want.

Excellent remastering. Extremely clear blu-ray with no pixelation, blurring, or lagging. If you liked the old series and want to watch it again I recommend this set.

So far so good!! Brings back so many great memories. After Star Wars blew up on the scene in '77 all hell broke loose. Science fiction spawned films and shows non stop. This one is an interesting gem and has a great story line too. The blu ray quality and sound is there.

Battlestar Galactica The Remastered Collection is a widescreen remastering of the 1978 television series and its 1980 spinoff in high definition. Well…the high definition isn’t exactly top-notch, as it has speckles/distortion throughout, as if this product was hurried through the process. However, this is mildly annoying, and it’s still of decent quality, though a blu ray treatment deserves better. As for the 1978 series itself, there’s plenty to like. We’re given a solid two-hour pilot to launch the series, with a solid cast that seems to have the right chemistry. Lorne Greene as Commander Adama brings presence, depth, and balance to the cast and plot, while the rest of the cast bring energy, especially Dirk Benedict as Lieutenant Starbuck. For the most part, this series is character-driven, with a little less emphasis on visuals and special effects, which, by the way, aren’t the greatest, but adequate for the late 1970’s. There’s instant identification with Stu Phillips’ score, which puts you in the place. This 8-disc set is pure escapism and nostalgia, and is loaded with some nice special features. The other series, Galactica 1980, is a shell of its predecessor, and is mostly forgettable, though it’s nice to have. Overall, this is a nice sci-fi television series on blu ray, though the remastering could’ve been better. I guess I’m just glad to have the opportunity to view this gem of a series decades later.

This is a great add on to my sci-fi collection. Video and audio quality is great!

A good series that still holds up today. Purists will probably want to watch it in its original aspect ratio but for me the remastered wide screen is the best way to watch. They did a really good job on the remaster and the series still holds up today

Classic 70s si-fi quality picture with it being remastered looks brand new

Battlestar gives absolute proof that older show can be revamped into 16:9. Those studios that have remastered but not created 16:9 (Paramount/Star Trek) are put to shame by this title's existence. Thank you Universal and BuyGlobal for making it available to me.
