Fantastic Mesh top!!
Welcome everyone. This is my review & install of my new TUFFSHADE! I have had my mesh top for 3 months now & this is my 3rd or 4th time putting it on. I spent a month or so reading reviews and looking into which mesh top was going to be for me. I had narrowed it down to 2 of them & then decided on the TUFFSHADE for my JK Unlimited. It had great reviews & happy customers. I liked the idea of the zipper pockets in the front corners & more connection points than some of the other options out there. When I remove mine now I store the bungees in the zipper pockets. It works great & they wonât get lost (short ones in one side & the long ones in the other)! My wife was not very fond of my new purchase & thought it was kind of a dumb idea. After she took a ride in it with the mesh top installed she was down right amazed. The reduction of heat, wind and wind noise is pretty impressive. If I had to guess, I would say it reduced each of them by 50%. Not to mention it will hold out a light rain. You can install your soft or hard top over the mesh top if you desire. I have a hardtop with the freedom panels.Iâd have to say this is probably one of my best purchases for the Jeep. Iâm pretty sure my son will be getting one soon for his 2 door.Below is a quick overview with some pictures on the installation. This is my chosen method, it may not be the best way or the correct way but it works well for me. I was going to do a video but it was a little difficult holding the camera & installing the top at the same time. âş If I get a chance I will have the wife help me put together a video the next time I put it on.First off I start by laying the mesh top over the speaker bar. Then go to the center front as shown in the picture below. The front has 2 holes in the center (the back has the TUFFSHADE logo on it). Close all of your doors and put both of your sun visors down.**See pic 1.The 3 short bungees go up front. They should be installed from the bottom, pushed through as shown below. I start with the center & then do the sides.**See pic 2.Pull the bungee over top of the small bar & then hook it over the ball underneath.**See pic 3.OPTIONAL STEP--If you believe you want to leave the mesh top on all the time even with your hardtop, I would suggest lining up those holes/grommets now (after the front is attached). There is a piece of Velcro over each of the center grommets (remove it). I suggest putting the hand screws in upside down (from the top) , lining them up correctly & then continuing to the next step. Then go to the back (where the logo is).**See pic 4.There is a hole on each corner. I have found it easiest to install these 2 corner bungees upside down as shown with the ball on top.**See pic 5.The bungee cord goes towards the outer edge of the Jeep & will go under the seat belt harness to prevent it from moving around or sliding up the roll bar. Make sure you donât wrap the seat belt itself in the bungee.**See pic 6.Bring the bungee back up & hook it over the ball. This one can be a little difficult. Pull the shade towards the back corner & stretch the bungee (a lot). Complete the same on the other side.**See pic 7.Next I move up to the holes over the back doors. These bungees get fed from the bottom up like the front 3 that we started with. They wrap over the top of the roll bar & then hook over the ball on the bottom side (see the next 2 pictures).**See pic 8 & 9.Then move to the holes over the front doors & complete those just like the back doors were done. Lastly you will have the 2 front corners where the zippered pockets are. I have found that the bungees can be done either way. This shows them from the top. I believe its easier going top down & then coming underneath the roll bar & hooking over the top. It leaves a slight crinkle in the corner but nothing to bad as you can see in the picture below. If you do this from the bottom it is a little harder to hook but after you get it hooked you can move the ball towards the outside of the Jeep & it will rest in the plastic molding that you see. It also helps alleviate the small crinkle that you see in my picture.**See pic 10.Thatâs all!! Here are a couple pics of the final installation from the front seat & then one from the rear.**See pic 11, 12, & 13.I hope this helps you. Now go enjoy your new TUFFSHADE!!

Great addition to the jeep
Good cover. Blocks sun nicely. Still feels very open. My negative No install I instructions. While pretty self explanatory to install would be ice if there were instructions included which could easily be printed on the back of the front packaging cover

... Tuffshade installed for about a week now and I love it. Works great
I've had the Tuffshade installed for about a week now and I love it. Works great, looks great, and fits great. Before I ordered my biggest fear was that the shade would vibrate or flap around at highway speeds. That isn't the case. This thing is perfectly rigid on the highway and even aids in cutting down the wind. I love the overhead pockets. It's the prefect place to store my cell phone. If I had to ding it, I would say that the lack of instructions is frustrating. However, the install is straightforward enough to easily figure out. One of the best things I've purchased for my Jeep thus far.

No instructions?
This product seemed pretty straight forward So I ignored the reviews complaining about the lack of instructions... I should have known better... The sunshade is very small and the bungee cords seem way too short... I found a few YouTube videos that give tips so I haven't given up yet. But it's been 2 months since my purchase and I still haven't put it on my car... Too bad I missed the return window.

CANNOT be left on under hard top.
I generally don't write reviews, but I feel like people purchasing this deserve to know a few things. I start with a simple overview and then go into detail. Importantly though, this top CANNOT BE LEFT ON when putting a hard top back on. I believe this is a misstatement or possibly an outright falsehood given by TUFF.PROS:¡ The pockets are super useful, I keep all kinds of junk up there.¡ The quality of the shade itself is great! The fabric seems strong, stitching is strong.¡ It keeps the sun off you while still giving you an open air feel.CONS:¡ Again, this shade CANNOT be left on under your hard top. The bungees attach to the latch points for the hard top, you cannot reach the freedom panel latches through the top, and so you can't secure panels. You will have to disconnect the front 7 bungees, let the top flap into the cabin, secure the panels, and then re-attach the front 7. Kind of takes the convenience of the freedom panels right out. And good luck lining up the two grommets with the freedom top hand-screws.¡ As of June-2017 the bungees are still TOO SHORT. Putting them on requires brute strength, and carpet burned fingers. Even setting the top out in the sun for 2 hours, on a 90deg day and installing, the bungees simply don't wrap around the places as shown. You will end up buying longer ones.¡ No Instructions! - Look installing this thing is child's play, it doesn't take much thought, but even a picture showing the correct order of attaching the bungees would be nice. I've found that attaching the back ones first, then the front, and moving forward 'helps' but you will still be fighting positioning the hand screw grommets. (pro tip: drop the screws in the top and watch the angle of the cup.)All in all, if I were to base this review on the fabric alone, it's great, but you will be taking it off before the hard top goes back on, and you will be buying new bungee cords. (I used paracord with a slip knot for changing the tension)
