Great Little Speaker!
I love this little sonic orb! While I'm no audiophile, to my ears this speaker boasts some pretty good sound quality, period, without even taking its size into account. When you also consider its compactness, this is a pretty impressive little piece of equipment. The build quality seems pretty good, and it feels solid in the hand. It's got a nice design, and has a pleasant rubbery matte surface texture. I use it all the time; to listen to music while cooking, working, or even showering (as far as I know, it's not waterproof - and I wouldn't test it - but I can connect this speaker to my phone or computer, leave that in another room, and place the X-mini on a ledge or windowsill somewhere safe in the bathroom); I use it to give me and my friends something to plug iPods into when we're socializing somewhere without a sound system present; and I use it with my laptop to provide some extra "oomph" to movies, TV shows, or online video that otherwise would have been inaudible. I bought the X-mini both for it's size and quality. I needed something light and super-compact for traveling, but that wouldn't sacrifice too much in the sound department. The X-mini fit the bill: so far, I've tossed it in a backpack and dragged it around Europe for 2 months and have taken it across the U.S. to the West Coast without incident. It easily took the punishment of travel and meshed well with my other electronics, and didn't substantially add to their weight or clutter (something that is always in danger of happening with an assortment of gadgets while traveling). It was always there to provide that spot of quality sound when I needed it. There are two niggles with the X-mini - the price, which I think is largely deserved when considering the quality, is still a tad expensive. I bought it for $60, but think maybe $45-$50 might be a bit fairer. Also, while the initial bluetooth setup is a breeze, I experienced minor issues a few times when trying to reconnect on both my phone and my laptop, where I had to delete the X-mini from the listing of remembered devices and reintroduce it. Also, sometime it seems to only partially connect (or only link up one channel) on bluetooth with my laptop, and I have to disconnect/reconnect until it works. Minor issues, though, and to be honest I'm not sure if the fault lies in the speaker or my devices (probably the devices). So all-in-all, if you want the smallest, best-sounding bluetooth-capable portable speaker, the X-mini is probably for you!

Horrible customer service
The speaker sounds OK. The sound distorts at high volume. Many competitors sound much better. The Bluetooth stopped functioning after about a month. Xmini customer service refused to honor the warranty because it is not sold "directly" by amazon. Horrible customer service. Lesson learned: never buy any x mini product.

nothing exceptional or special
I have been seeing so many mixed reviews for different products that I decided to buy a few, try them out, and decide for myself which one I'm going to keep. So I ended up buying the 4 speakers that have high ratings: Accessorise (tm) Portable Bluetooth Wireless Mini Speaker System, Alpatronix AX300 X-tra Strong Bluetooth Portable Mini Capsule Speaker, DBEST London Duo Bluetooth Rechargeable Mini-Speaker Set (PS4003BT-RB), HMDX Audio HX-P230GY JAM Classic Bluetooth Wireless Speaker, and X-Mini KAI XAM11-B Bluetooth Capsule Speaker. Having tested them, I thought I would post my review here in the hopes that it would clear out doubts for others. Here are the results of my testing. In each category, I have ranked them 1-5, with 1 being my favorite, and 5 being the least favorite: Design: #1: I have to say Alpatronix speakers claim the spot hands down! Right out of the box, my son was about to steal it from me. He ended up doing so anyway, but I managed to keep him away from it until I finished testing the speaker. The speaker is sleek with rubberized finish and a chrome sleeve on the top and the sides. It's also the most portable onewithout compromising sound quality. The packaging is also very classy (for gifting), and is fun just to open. Kinda like apple products! It looks very sophisticated indeed. #2 spot goes to HMDX JAM. I have to say I wasn't that crazy about the shape of the actual speaker which is just a cylinder, but the box is like a jam jar, which I thought was cool for children. The speaker is much bigger than the other ones and doesn't fit comfortably in the pocket of my jeans. It's also VERY heavy considering the size, so you'll feel it in your pocket if you are finally able to fit it in. #3 spot goes to DBEST. It looks like the Alpatronix without the chrome, and also looks like X-Mini KAI. It's not very portable because it has 2 speakers so I can't fit it into my pocket. Even my wife who normally carries a big purse wants to have the smallest possible option, which is definitely not this one. #4 spot goes to X-Mini KAI. Again, it looks and functions like the Alpatronix, but without the chrome band. Other than that, it looks like a black blob... nothing special. The packaging doesn't look bad. Hard plastic packaging dressed with thin cardboard dressing. #5 spot goes to Accessories. This looked really cool in pictures but actually the plastic looks cheap. Size is very small, similar to Alpatronix, and KAI but doesn't expand. The packaging is thin flexible plastic and looks cheapish. I don't recommend it for a gift. Sound: I tested the speakers with different types of music: Pop, rock, hiphop, house, and classical. Also I charged all the speakers fully before testing. #1: HMDX JAM. The sound is louder in this speaker. This must be due to the bigger size, which means a bigger and wider speaker in the device. However, I didn't like the bass level relative to the volume level, and the weight and size are a big negative. #2: Alpatronix. In expanded form, it has a very nice sound and covers both high and low ends really well, with a very nicely developed sound. When I first played it, I thought it was weak until I read the user manual which indicated the speaker turns on at mid volume and that you can increase it to full volume with the little knob that controls most of the functions. Can't believe this little thing makes such big sound! #3: DBEST. The sound on this speaker is ok. Considering there's 2 speakers, I just expected more! Considering the negatives mentioned in the design, I didn't bother testing it for too long as I was sadly disappointed with the first couple songs I played. #4: X-Mini KAI. This one just sounds weak. Being about the size and shape of the Alpatronix and DBEST, I was expecting it to perform about the same, but the sound is just really weak even at full volume. It has a nicely developed sound but it just doesn't get loud. #5: Accessories. The sound is as loud as the HMDX JAM. But the positives stop here. It just covers the highs, and nothing of the lows. No bass at all, and screeching at full blast! Conclusion: #1: Alpatronix AX300 was the most well-rounded speaker, meeting everything the manufacturer claims. It's portable, VERY nice sound, great packaging, and good price! #2: HMDX JAM has good sound, but not very portable. Don't like the shape, weight, or size. The packaging looks cool if you are into jam jars, but I purchased it for portability and sound. It met the sound qualification, but definitely not the other criteria. #3: DBEST. Like #2, but the sound is not as good. That's why this one receives #3. #4: X-Mini KAI. I would avoid it if possible. Weak sound, but nice portability. #5: Accessories. I would not spend money on this. Bad sound, cheap look, and cheap packaging. Like a singer who sings beyond their voice range. No bass at all and screaming! Good luck with your purchase! I have to go get me another Alpatronix AX300 now that my son has the first one :)

Incredible Product, Didn't have the "Oomph"
I cannot stop myself from being amazed every time XMI releases another of their speakers. It simply blows me away. I love X-mini speakers. I own a: X-mini Max (Stereo), X mini Max 2, two X-mini II's and I have owned this one. So, it's safe to say I'm a huge fan. Now, don't go expecting BOSE Sound Quality from these little guys, but WOW they DO pack a punch. Everything you hear about it true, these things have INCREDIBLE sound quality. (I am an audiophile so I do have a taste for quality speakers) I haven't encountered a single X-mini that hasn't met my expectations, until this one. Quickly I'll let you know it came in a beautiful clear acrylic case. (Very similar to the iPod cases) It came with a lovely traveling pouch and info on the great charity stuff X-mini does. I bought this because of its biggest selling point, BLUETOOTH. Let me say, it does that job fantastically. It's hassle free to setup and easy to stream your music to. I used mine with my iPhone 4 and it was beautiful. The only reason I dropped a star was because... well... the "boom" factor left after a few days. When I first opened and used my X-mini KAI, I was blown away by the sound quality and volume. I played it for hours. However, over the next few days, it lost that "oomph" that I have come to know with X-mini. At first I thought it was the battery, so I charged it full, and still, nothing. I just couldn't get it loud enough for my liking. I would have loved to keep the it, but for $80 for a speaker that I can't get volume out of, I couldn't justify it. Maybe mine was a defective unit, and who says that I won't end up buying it again someday; but for me, it's going back. Sorry KAI. Sincerely, Forever a X-mini fan.

Worked well for about 4 months then...
The speaker sounds great when working properly and it's compact design makes it easy to carry around where ever you go. And it has worked properly for the first 4 months i've had it but recently it started skipping. It works fine after I disable it and then re-sync it but if I turn it off and start it back up it starts skipping immedietly. I then have to start from scratch, reset my device, re-sync it and finally it can be listened to. This is very inconvienient and it's too late for me to return it for a new one. But besides that, it's a nice little speaker.

Comparing Kai, X-mini2 and knock-off X-mini2
Fine quality and cool looks. It sounds Amazing for a small speaker of this size. Authentic X-mini from the seller. Bought a Kai, a few X-mini2 and also a few knock-off X-mini2 from ebay. The knock-off mini2 actually plays louder than the real X-mini2, but with noticeable higher noise (sound distortion). The sound quality of the knock-off is much poorer than the real one. The best way to use a X-mini2 is Bluetoothing a Kai and daisy chain it with more mini2's. You get the best yield on sound - Stereo sound tho. A real X-mini2 costs 4-6 bucks more in average than a knockoff. I still think it is worth the money to get a real one. Haven't tested the microphone feature.

Poor quality item
The volume adjustment does not work. The best part of the item is its package plastic box. The product description does not exactly match the product outlet/connections, has confusing images. The description is too fine to read. Although it is relatively cheep, it does not worth the money for sure.

GREAT LITTLE BLUETOOTH SPEAKER
I've had a wired X-Mini for years, and it has been great for its size. I decided to get the bluetooth model and it sounds even better. It is a tiny bit larger, it expands a bit more and they have improved their technology since I purchased my first one. I think all three things helped improve tthe sound. It's doesn't sound as good as my Bose Soundlink, but it costs $250.00 less. It is great for travel, which is how I use it.

Fab little speaker
Great sound, easy to use: connects to my phone and my laptop with no issues. Nicely light and compact so very easy to transport. If you have more than one you can daisy-chain them together. If you can't use bluetooth, there are a couple of other options too. Quick to charge and has a good range.

Excellent
Colis reçu très rapidement. Je dois avouer que ce petit objet, malgré sa taille remplit parfaitement le service attendu. Le bluetooth est très pratique, on peut l'emmener partout avec sa housse fournie. Parfait.

You will love it
I dont know about other bluetooth speakers but this one is perfect for me. Small, compact in size with sound that can fill a small room. The battery backup is very good too. After a full charge, it is giving me 8 hrs + of music (still going on the first charge). Quality is good. The sound is very good too.

Muy bueno
Se escucha genial, no pesa nada, se transporta facilmente, la unica pega que le pongo es el precio, un poco caro.
