OtterBox Defender Series Case for iPad 7th, 8th & 9th Gen (10.2" Display - 2019, 2020 & 2021 Version) - BLACK, Rugged, Durable, Multi-Layer Protection

I recently got a cheap used 9th gen iPad. Of course I needed a case and a pencil. Since the older first generation Apple Pencil don't really magnetic attach to most things very well you have to have some form of elastic loop. This case has that. The case is actually semi-flexible you insert the iPad by flexing the case in a certain manner and kind of popping it on. However I've actually found it to be very useful for most things as I've had to remove the iPad more than a few times for different holders and different mounting solutions so for me getting an in and out of the case quick was actually a feature. I do love having the pencil holder as the grip is really strong and I've not seen it move 1 inch on it's own, plus it's underneath a clasping flap so it gives even more confidence that your pencil isn't going anywhere. The charging port does not interfere with different cables I have used and the back of the case allows the cameras unobstructed views. Pricing has been lowered due to its age which really makes this unbeatable if you're dealing with an older iPad. I looked at all the cases on Amazon and even the current ones being offered by major retailers and this one still came out ahead in both attractiveness, functionality, durability, and price point. If you're not looking to spend a lot of money but you need a basic case that covers everything and has a great pencil holder get this one.

The Otterbox iPad 7th, 8th & 9th Gen is very similar to the one I had for Original ipad and Ipad Air 1st gen. I was happy with those earlier Otterboxes and am happy with this one! Otterbox Defender is sturdy protection, and I feel confident I can carry my iPad 9th gen safely around to doctor and other appointment areas I will be waiting for service and therefore will use at to pass the time. The ipad is layer protected and the inexpensive non-Apple pencil I bought works fine through the transparent screen overlaying the iPad. The cover, conveniently a stand, snaps off and on quickly enough to be put away/taken out and like its predecessors has 2 very sturdy iPad horizontal viewing angles, approx 20 and the steeper approx 60 degrees. Both viewing angles are very useful to me: 60 degrees used most often, I place Otterbox in my lap and use that angle to read while in environments with no table. If hard surface is available and a bit low, then the 20 degree angle is fine and in fact used very often at one of my jobs when there was a lot of time waiting for things to happen. The ipad was in a keyboard tray which when in the 20 degree position fit perfectly when the keyboard tray was closed. When downtime occured, I'd pull out the tray and the iPad would be ready to be used without further setup. And when the klaxxon sounded, I just closed the keyboard tray without any further takedown and continued onward until I could pull out the keyboard tray again. Measuring the max height at 20 degrees, the ipad 9th gen (and Ipad Air 1st Gen) in the Otterbox is about 3" high at its tallest point (the keyboard tray can fit something up to 3 1/4"tall). The vertical position I find less useful, but it seems sturdy enough but one should be cautious not to press keys too vigorously as though it is snug in its base, the vertical vs horizontal orientation of the Ipad in the stand is inherently less stable. Assembly was quicker than I initially thought it would be, especially regarding the snaps in disassembly of the product in order to place the iPad inside of the OTTERBOX. There are arrows which indicate which direction to pull the snaps (which is a contention point as some people are unsure how the snaps work/with way to push/pull without breaking it). After looking at the case and its arrows and a video, it seemed self evident for me and disassembly/reassembly of the Otterbox Defender with iPad now inside went speedily, and the ipad is now incased in its new armored suit. Otterbox Defender adds weight to the ipad but without it the ipad seems so vulnerable otherwise. FYI The first OTTERBOX purchase for 9th did not include a screen, I therefore applied for a return and the replacement arrived QUICKLY with SCREEN so I am happy would order again and the return process went well, kudos to WHOLE FOODS MARKET crew who confirmed the items returned, placed them in a bin (no need to address and tape up a container for shipping, just take the product to the store in its own box).

This case is very strong it definitely protects against falls without the plastic cover because I was on the treadmill the iPad fell and flew off of the treadmill on my concert basement floor it was fine the case fits very well and is easy to put on the Apple Pencil holder/ pen holder holds on well to the pen it also feels light and comfortable

This case is a beast! It's a little bulky with the base / support stand attached, but it's easily removed. Overall, I love this case. Well worth the money in my opinion. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the lack of instructions on how to install it. A quick search online solved that problem.

Good case for ipad, it helps to prevent screen damage from accidently drop. The only issue I have is the 2-part design was glued together and the glue is not heat tolerant. The glue breaks in Texas summer when I used ipad case in backyard deck.

I've had this for 1 month and the first time I dropped it.. my heart sank but was hopeful: it worked! No damages. The 2nd time I dropped it I thought that was it for sure: still safe, no damages. YES! Not only does it protect but it looks and feels great. The cover is a little bulky for my holder when attached to a mic stand but I just set that to the side and then close it up when I'm done. I love it!

This is the ONLY 9th gen iPad case that has a removable side so you can still use a magnetic Smart Cover with it! I LOVE THAT!! This is my third purchase (now for hubby) and I did replace mine once after a few years when the sides began to separate from the back and the clearness began to be quite yellowed. So, great design that will last a few years and offer excellent protection.

Really good item. Otterbox is a company you can rely on completely, I have used them for year on my tech. Fits on 9th gen iPad perfectly and looks great with the space grey colour.

La Marca como tal es sinónimo de calidad, aunque no es barata desquita el precio al proteger tus componentes con gran eficacia, ya la conocía por algunas fundas protectoras para mí bb hace años y hora no me decepcionó con esta protección para el iPad. Ojo. Tiene una Mica protectora integrada por lo que no necesitas nada más para proteger.

Bello esteticamente è molto robusto. Molto facile inserire il tablet perché la “cornice” è morbida e non rigida. E’ già caduto ed è rimasto intatto (tablet e cover)
