weather station
Out of the box the wind sensor didn't work. I contacted customer service and they walked me thru a few things and it didn't make a difference. They had me send it back to them and found out it was a faulty wind sensor. they made sure everything was working before they sent it back to me. Now it is working great and I would buy again.

Decent Weather Station if there was Product Support
I purchased the Lacrosse C86234 from Costco. I got everything to connect fairly quickly except for the wind sensor. I found the instructions and FAQ's on the Lacrosse website. It all made good sense. I followed all of the instructions and the rain and thermo/hygro sensors sync'd up every time without incident. The wind sensor was still not functional. I even loaded the free software from Lacrosse and got the USB dongle to sync the software with the weather station without any issues.I was hoping to work with Lacrosse to replace the defective wind sensor rather than return the whole package. Lacrosse recommends using their web form for technical support. They claim a 2 or 3 day response time, but expect more than a week. Lacrosse tech support basically emails the FAQ's and other support tips that are already available on the web site, so not much help there. After repeatedly saying that I had followed all of these and just needed a replacement wind sensor, they just sent me another page from their website on setting up the wind sensor. Already been there and done that over and over. Finally, I got tired of Lacrosse not being able or willing to replace the defective wind sensor, so I took the whole package back to Costco for a refund. This seems like it would be a good product if you get a fully functional package on your first try. If not, I recommend you return it rather than expect support from Lacrosse.

Great setup, but lacks thought
I've been buying LaCrosse stuff for years, and I am dumbfounded by the things they have not improved.First, whoever came up with the idea that to sync all devices together by removing batteries from all devices and inserting batteries in each sensor then the receiver, IS AN IDIOT. They clearly don't use these things at home. Take the batteries out of one sensor, and you're required to remove batteries from everything and start all over. Top it off with the fact that the rain sensor in this setup is mounted to a horizontal surface, and you realize you have to remove it from that mount AND then remove the screw for the battery compartment. It makes me want to punch baby seals. Why couldn't they have added a "sync" button to the receiver that would search for the sensors? It would make SO MUCH MORE SENSE! And why, every time the batteries go dead in the receiver, do I then have to remove batteries from all sensors just for it to get the signals back? What this means is, every time you replace batteries in one item, you should replace them all in every item. The receiver usually dies first, meaning that the sensors are right behind. Replace receiver batteries and it's a month before you have to start ALL OVER AGAIN. It's maddening, and it causes you to end up not using half the system because it's such a pain. Plus, you're supposed to have all sensors within a few feet of the receiver. So, I have to unscrew the rain sensor, the wind sensor, AND the temp sensor, bring them inside, replace the batteries in all of them, then replace the batteries in the receiver, then wait for it all to sync up again, then go back out and remount the sensors. STUPID!The reason I bought this one is because it had the ability to check the home temp from your phone. I thought "This is awesome because then each person in the house can look at the temp without having to look at the receiver". I searched everywhere for the app, but to no avail. No app. Why? Oh, because there is no app. It's a web page. Top it off with the fact that it does not auto refresh, meaning you have to manually refresh to see the latest data. Again, whoever designed this system, doesn't actually use it.I don't think I'll ever buy this complex of a setup again from LaCrosse. I'm keeping the packaging and am going to return it if I have a single issue. I'm thankful for Costco's return policy.

Very pleased
Bought this as a gift for my husband to replace another unit that stopped working after a couple of years. He specifically wanted to be able to monitor weather remotely from his computer or phone. We are very pleased with this! I had done some research and found someone who posted extremely precise instructions online for how to set it up; we followed them exactly and didn't have any problems. The wifi connection drops periodically, but we just reset it. That's not a big deal for us: we have a LOT of wireless devices in our house, so we were pleased that it connected at all. It may not last much longer than the other one did, but it is still holding its own even though the temps have been in the -20s Celcius pretty much since we got it.

Poor unit
This one was bought to replace a previous unit in which the wind unit broke, It only worked for a couple of months, when the unit started to drop the communication between the sensor and the display. Tried resetting it and that worked for a few times, but eventually it lost all connection between the units. Support service was unable to help. So I bought an AcuRite unit. Should have spent the money in the first place on the better unit. Would have been cheaper in the long run
