Lonely Planet Vegan Travel Handbook (Lonely Planet Food)

Excellent overview for traveling vegans
I was a vegan for about ten years before my body began screaming for animal protein. But although I've reincorporated dairy and eggs into my diet, I still eat mainly plant-based meals. And while traveling, I've found it easier in some countries than others to find vegan (or even vegetarian) food. (Iceland, which wasn't really mentioned in the book, had some of the best vegetarian food I've ever had, in Reykjavik.)Clearly the target audience for the book is vegans planning to travel to different kinds of destinations for different kinds of vacations (adventure, relaxation, cultural, wildlife and nature, and tropical). After an overview of what to expect and how to plan for a vegan vacation, it includes suggestions for specific destinations and where to stay and eat in each. By necessity, because the entire book is only 168 pages, its suggestions are limited and information abbreviated. But it is lavishly illustrated, and is a great starting point, providing inspiration and practical advice before you plan your next trip.I really like this book.

Definitely worth getting if you are vegan and traveling.
This is quite the unique book, and I am happy to have it to include in my travels. The book provides lots of beautiful, high quality pictures of the various destinations. The authors have included so many different aspects, from practical tips regarding climate and what to pack, to the nitty gritty of exactly just what food you may eat in each place. Language phrases are also given to express to your host, street vendor, etc, that you are vegan. I personally would print these phrases out on a card, instead of trying to memorize them. The biggest takeaway from this book to me is that if I will be in a busy city, I will probably find something vegan to my liking, but anywhere outside of a big city, I definitely need to bring my own snacks. The book is very thorough, offering places to stay that don't compromise your beliefs, and giving suggestions for vegan friendly activities. Definitely worth buying the book if you are vegan and traveling.

Unique Focus on Travel
My partner is vegetarian not vegan, but the struggles are similar. We have traveled to Colombia and Mexico City and found the culture challengingly meat centric. Especially in the Amazon, it was down to just rice, bean and plantains. I really appreciate this book for two things. First, the planning section is great for vegans and vegetarians. It really helps if you do some preparation before hand. And second, I love the little factoids about different countries and the challenges. I love things like finding out how to say no bonito flakes in Japan and different factoids about different areas culturally. I found it fascinating and basically read it cover to cover even though I am an omnivore. It is a wonderful and scannable guide.

Nice Inspiration....
This is a lovely book. I actually don't have any plans to travel as far as most of the places within this book at the moment, but I am a vegetarian that is trying to limit my dairy. I found this book inspiring. It's filled with beautiful photos and tips for eating vegan. I live in an area that's small and doesn't have many options for the strict way I eat(mostly low carb, too, with just a healthy carb here and there). I have to prepare even for day trips out and this book's advice can be used for shorter traveling, too. To be covering vegan eating places from around the world, the book is pretty small. It doesn't cover every eating option, for sure. It hits the highlights of some of the best places, though, and gives you tools to use for other options, like apps and blogs. It's an interesting book and I think it could be inspiring for vegan/vegetarian travellers, but it'll most likely require much more research for what and where to eat on your trip.

Handy book!
Excellent book, perfect for anyone traveling vegan! My daughter is a new vegan, only for the last year or so, but this book is excellent for planning travel and finding the most vegan friendly cities and places within those locations! Nicely formatted and easy and fun to read, this book is a must have for any vegan, whether you're traveling for work, vacation, or just anytime!

Novelty item
Was a it disappointed with the lack of detailed info. It's nice to have something like this in one spot to look at when planning trips, but it's more a novelty than something that would actually help me plan my trip.

Useful for future travels.
My partner loves this. When we can finally travel again safely, we’re going to look up some of these places. It’s often so hard to find decent vegan choices in restaurants, so this makes that a little easier!

Nothing special at all.
I think this book doesn't tell you anything new. It is focused on the cities around the world. It is not worth the money!!! I am very disappointed!
