I Love this First Alert Fire Safe.
As a bolt down 1 hour, water proof, fire safe with combination lock, I am perfectly pleased. The combination is fairly complicated (which to my way of thinking, is a good thing), It has worked perfectly every single try so far. I received it and installed it the same day, about a week ago. It comes with 2 keys, and the key location is disguised fairly well and is aesthetically pleasing. The key easily unlocks the fire safe and can be used solely if desired. The door handle seems sturdy and operates the door easily. It does not come with concrete anchors. The six screws of a relatively small size only require the use of plastic concrete anchors for a good solid attachment. I was able to install the concrete anchors with the use of a regular electric drill motor and a couple of concrete drill bits. The template that comes with the fire safe works great. I trimmed the paper template outside edges with scissors and the final screwed down location was perfect and fairly easy to accomplish alone. Even though it is not a "Security" Fire Safe, it seems very secure. It is definitely more than I expected for the cost.

Good quality safe for the price
The safe came extra packaged with two layers of about 1 inch thick Styrofoam to protect the safe from having it bumped. The safe is too heavy/bulky for one person to lift it off the ground. The safe has two ways to open it: first through the safe dial and another is through an emergency key under the safe dial. The only minor problem is the handle to turn the door, where I had my hand squished between the safe and the handle, if I tried to wrap all my fingers around the handle and turn it. I haven't tested it for fire resistant or water resistant but the walls of the safe are fairly thick before getting to the core space. As for burglary resistant, I would say its okay because of its design but remember, this safe is designed more for fire resistance and water resistance than burglary resistance. Overall, this safe is a well built and solid safe for home/small office use.

Best price anywhere for this safe and has more features than comparable safes.
This is a review of the First Alert 2087F Waterproof and Fire Resistant Bolt Down Combination Safe.Summary – I have searched and compared for a long time and this safe met all my needs. It is working excellent and I was actually very surprised at the low price point. It is $82 cheaper than if you buy it directly and pay the shipping. The main reason I wanted this one was due to it being fire resistant up to 1hr, waterproof and it does not use digital features which require batteries or commonly result in malfunctions. Some people have reported issues with mold on documents, however, most seem to be a result of not following recommendations or abnormal home issues where the safe is being used. It is recommended you open the safe 20 minutes every 2 weeks. To be on the “safe” side (Get it?), I will be using a few bags of reusable color changing silica gel packs in there. When they turn from blue to pink, this confirms there is moisture. If using for items that could be difficult or impossible to replace, they recommend placing them in airtight dishwasher-safe containers. A warning label is also on top of the safe to remind you as it is important.Note – I do question the feature stating this may be used for media such as discs or a hard drive. Specs state that the interior can reach temperatures up to 350 degrees F. When I checked into maximum non-operating hard drive temperatures, several articles referenced a temp much lower at 158 degrees F.Here is a quick list of the main pros and cons and hope it helps you in your decision. As with all my reviews, I will update this review should this develop issues.Pros-Rated up to 1700 degrees F for an hour and is waterproof.-Has a good amount of room. (.94 cubic feet) Inside usable area is 12.88” high x 10.38” wide and 12.25” deep. Large enough for things like an A-Z paper filing folder, several handguns or even that some of the millions you have under the mattress.-Uses four solid bolts.-Unlike other safes I have seen, this one has the hinge flush with the side. Based on a visual inspection of the safe as well as of the lock, I can not see a thief being able to gain access to it barring toting this thing back to the lair to use some heavy duty machines.)-Combination wheel is metal, is easy to work and easy to read.-The two override keys you receive are quality barrel keys and opening the safe using the keys is not a problem.-This is a mechanical safe and not electronic. Since this uses a combination and key lock and not a digital keypad, you do not need to worry about batteries or malfunctions.-If you use the included bolt down kit, you can bolt this to your floor with the safe remaining waterproof and fire resistant.-You have a 5-year limited warranty through First Alert when you register the safe online. It is easy to do and your serial number as well as key number will then be on file with them should anything happen.-This is 82lbs and comes accross as a tank. Does have a handle indent in the back to help move, however, recommend using a hand truck or dolly to move around.ConsCombination lock comes preset and there is not a way to change this to your own combo. To me this was a big bummer.Items needed to make this perfect.Change plastic handle to metal. While it seems durable, a metal handle would just compliment the otherwise solid heavy duty build of the safe.

Called a safe, 'cause keeps yer stuff safe!
Use it for storing original copy of will. Bank wants $100/year safe deposit box. This unit $115 delivered. If I live 2 more years, it's paid for. Solid as... a safe."First Alert" has figured this one out. Nice big numeric dial, easy for aging eyes to see and fumble fingers to operate. Don't trust digital.. batteries die and if in a flood... what then for digital lock? Safe comes w/ a key if you wanna bypass all that dial turning. If the house burns down and will copy survives, I'll let you know. Live 2 blocks from fire station, surely they can get here w/in the one hour rating!Safe can be bolted to floor w/o violating fire and flood warranty. Pretty slick how they accomplished that trick.I like it. Nicely designed and well manufactured
