So excited & pleased!!
The media could not be loaded. I've been looking for a low maintenance pet, that also doesn't take up much room. Was considering goldfish, but -- to care for them properly -- even they were more work (& more expensive) than I wanted. Don't know how I lucked into Aqua Dragons but I'm so pleased I did.The price ($20) was right, and the kit came with everything. While I waited for delivery I watched the videos on YouTube on proper set up and care. The kit arrived in perfect condition. I used bottled spring water in the tank, and used the pipette to aerate the water even before adding the egg mixture. Then the waiting began. The directions said to add 1/2 a spoonful of food the next day, which I did, and the following morning (about 41 hours) I looked with the magnifier and thought there were a couple of hatched aqua dragons. Later in the afternoon (about 46 hours) I looked longer, and there are DOZENS of aqua dragons swimming in there!! I can't believe how many hatched!I'm really enjoying this and am keeping careful track to see how things progress. I'll try to update once they get bigger. But as far as I'm concerned I've already gotten my money's worth.Update: the Aqua Dragons are one month old today, and they've really grown. I've added an updated video. The original bunch of 50+ dragons whittled down to about 25. I've been very careful to continue to follow directions, and they seem to be pretty healthy. I really am enjoying these guys -- they're a LOT of fun to watch. And sometimes I'll move their little tank to different places in the house. I think I'm enjoying these little guys more than I would have enjoyed fish.

DO NOT USE TAP WATER!! These are really cool little pets!
I bought this set as a first "pet" for my 6-year-old about a month ago, and I have to admit I've enjoyed these little guys just as much as (or maybe even more than) he has! I read tons of tips online so I knew not to use tap water. I think they need to make this very important detail much more obvious in the packaging, put it in caps, something to make it stand out more, because tap water will kill them. You must use plain bottled Spring water, not ionized, carbonated, alkalinated, or anything else nutty. We did that from the get-go and it was exciting watching the tank each day and waiting to see the tiny babies. We have a colony of probably 20-30 dragons, including one attached/mating pair I just noticed (I haven't quite figured out how to explain that one to my son: "Well sweetie, when two aqua dragons love each other very much.." Haha, I'll figure something out ;)As cool as these things are, I had to deduct a star for the tippability (is that a word? Sure, now it is) of the tank. Seriously, it's a set made for children who as a rule tend to be clumsy little humans, you'd think it would have a sturdier base?? The base is flimsy and quite narrow, and my son managed to tip it over in his excitement and it cracked, as well as released hundreds of little larvae onto the wood floor (cue massive frenzied rescue mission using the pipette). Unfortunately some of them didn't make it. Luckily the tank still holds water so we're still using it. The light to view the creatures is very cool, but it's going to be impossible to change the batteries in the base without transferring the colony to another container, so we just try to limit use of the light. Plus, it's very easy to inadvertently tip over the tank when you press the button. For those 2 reasons, I just couldn't give 5 stars. But this set has still been a ton of fun. I do always keep a lamp on next to them (I read that promotes well-being) and I don't let the house get below about 65 degrees. Plus I aerate the tank 2 times daily and they have done swimmingly. Get them, it'll be fun! And way less work than a snake, which is what my kid initially wanted!

Easy to setup! Lots of live aqua dragons!
I’m very satisfied with this aqua dragons kit. It was easy to setup. I used bottled spring water in my tank and got great results. 24 hours after mixing in the packet, I could see so many tiny aqua dragons moving in the water.I strongly recommend aerating your tank at least once daily for a couple of minutes each time. Do this by gently squeezing bubbles into the water using the plastic pipette that comes in the kit.I didn’t add anything that didn’t come with the kit to avoid contaminating the water with chemicals that could harm the aqua dragons. No sand, pebbles, rocks, corals or other decorations. Besides, there wasn’t really enough room available in the tiny tank.Best practice would also include washing your hands prior to handling the plastic pipette or feeding spoon. And it’s better not to touch the water with fingers. After many months of having a bunch of thriving aqua dragons, it finally came down to having one left. And eventually I didn’t see anything in my tank.I’m glad I didn’t dump the contents of my seemingly aqua dragon-less tank immediately. I decided to keep using the pipette to aerate the water in the tank daily. And to my surprise, two weeks later I noticed a young aqua dragon swimming around. I remembered how a pregnant adult had died and it probably hatched from one of her eggs. (The more you read about brine shrimp, you’ll learn how fascinating these little creatures are.)I have since added some brine shrimp eggs to my aqua dragons tank to repopulate it & so my lone aqua dragon wouldn’t need to be alone. I bought the brine shrimp eggs separately. This is a great kit for kids & adults. It’s a good way to learn about responsibility and patience. And although not necessary, doing some research by googling brine shrimp can be beneficial to both humans and aqua dragons. If you’ve tried raising the sea monkeys brand brine shrimp with less than satisfactory results, this aqua dragons kit will likely be better than your expectations. If you’re on the fence between sea monkeys & aqua dragons, I recommend this product.
