Herschel Heritage Backpack, Black, Classic 21.5L

Let me just tell you, if you told me a few months ago that I would ramble on the internet about how cool and great a backpack is, I would have thought that you're insane but here I am now.I don't even know where to start! I bought the Heritage one back in early December and have been using quite a lot for travel and school. This thing is a-ma-zing! I am able to put in my 15" laptop in there just fine and I can carry a TON of stuff. I took a trip in December and I had to carry my laptop and charger, some books, my Nikon DSLR camera and a change of clothes in there and it fit just fine. But the best part is not all that you can put in there but just how comfortable it feels while carrying it. I have mild scoliosis and have had all types and sorts of backpacks before but they all give me back pains after a few minutes of standing and carrying around. This one is so comfortable it literally feels like you're not carrying anything at all. The straps are padded and so comfortable and the material is really sturdy that it doesn't really move when you walk around, which I think adds benefit to the comfort.The material also has some sort of waxy finish (not at all a bad thing, just makes it a little stiff) that makes it water resistant! (NOT waterproof). I love that even though you don't fill out the backpack or the front pocket, it ALWAYS maintains the shape. That's a big plus in my book. And I wouldn't want to forget the fact that the color and design is extremely pretty, so it's a backpack that I would want to continue using for a long period of time.Overall, I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase and I'm so glad that I paid the extra buck for something that has great quality. My recommendation for you is that you can get much cheaper and pretty options, yes, but this is one that can be pretty and will also last you a long time so in the end, you will save a lot more money. Highly recommended.

Looks Great. Very well made backpack. The only thing you should know and consider before buying is the size. My son is in 2nd grade and he's much smaller than average and this bag fits him perfectly. I think it would work for 1st grade and younger. It fits his body and height perfectly but that being said... The space inside the bag is VERY SMALL. It works for up to second grade considering that they don't carry many books or utilities up until then but we will need to upgrade to a bigger size for next year. He carries 1 (1 inch 3 ring binder) a small library book. His lunch bag and a stain less steel water bottle which leaves NO ROOM for anything else. Great backpack, good size for younger kids but definitely NOT ADULT or TEENAGER sized. Be advised. Otherwise do great bag. Fast deliver and packaged well. Would buy again. We bought the mitary green with the black leather.

5 year update: I have gone from using this backpack to get between classes at college to now using it to carry my lunch, papers, and laptop to and from work. It has a bit of a patina on it; The leather has a few nicks, the fabric a few stains, and it definitely has been well loved. But it still sits very comfortably, securely holds everything you put in it, and the zippers work like the day I got them.I was scrolling through my Amazon profile and remembered purchasing this and reviewing it. I felt it was worth leaving a 5-year update, because so few things in this world are built to last. Based on the way it has broken in and the rate of wear, I don't suspect I'll need to replace this anytime soon.The original review text is below.---The material is high-quality and well built, with a strong leather base to support several heavy textbooks plus a laptop, and the canvas material looks and feels great. The backpack sits on me well and feels very comfortable, distributing the weight on my shoulders and back nicely.I appreciate the care that goes into the little things, such as the included elastic loops on the straps to prevent the excess material from dangling and getting caught on things.To boot, the whole thing looks stylish as well. Highly recommended!

Super simple bag. Main compartment with Herschel red stripe fabric. Striped fabric piece divide the laptop section from the main compartment. Everything seems stitched well. Front pocket has key hook. Zippers are YKK. The “update” to the bag is less features— there is no small media pouch inside the main compartment, and the rubber headphone grommet is gone. I was looking forward to the additional internal pouch. Given the bags simplistic design.Also has functional “lash tab” or” pig snout” for attaching anything from water bottles, an axe or a machete externally. Straps are comfortable. I’m 6’+ and I can get the bag on and off no problem. Got 4 stars due to the nonexistent, but advertised media accents. The media setup is even visible in sellers photos. Would make a nice looking diaper bag for a dad with some swagger… can hold about 6 bricks of baby powder. With room for some diapers. And some tea leaves. Once it’s closed you can’t see bags contents. Unless you have x-ray vision; or a diaper sniffing doberman… still miss the media setup, great place for some RAW paper towels, perhaps some anti-pinkeye Drops, a small make up mirror, or whatever type of gear you need to fix every day issues. The majority of my love for this bag is it matches my Herschel duffel bag identically. Inside and out!
