Excellent product! I literally trust this brand with my life.
UPDATE: "Health warning over 'toxic' levels of vitamin D sold in supplements"“The usual prescribed dose in most countries is 800 to 1,000 units per day (so 24,000-30,000 units per month). However, two randomised trials found that at around 40,000 to 60,000 units per month Vitamin D effectively became a dangerous substance.Earlier this year everyone in Britain was recommended to take supplements of the vitamin — which is supposed to reduce susceptibility to colds and flu — during the darker months, but now a lab in Birmingham which sells DIY vitamin D blood tests to the public says many people have responded by taking dangerously high levels of the substance.City Assays lab posts patients testing kits, which require them to prick their thumb and put a drop of blood onto a card, which is then sent back to the lab and analysed.Dr Jonathan Berg, who runs the clinic, told The Times: “We do a lot of vitamin D tests for the public, some of whom are taking huge amounts of vitamin D from the internet.“We’re phoning people two or three times a week saying, ‘Your vitamin D is way higher than it should be. We suggest you come off whatever you’re taking and see your GP.’ We’ve picked up hundreds of people who are overdosing themselves on vitamin D.”Last year a 10-year-old boy died in India after a prescription of vitamin D pushed his blood levels to 30 times the healthy limit.A study by Mr Berg and his colleague Robyn Shea, published in the Annals of Clinical Biochemistry last year, found that 372 patients were “self-prescribing” large quantities of vitamin D, leading to levels of the vitamin in their blood which were more than five times the toxic level and 20 times the recommended level."========= The above article was posted in Charlotte England; by The Independent; on March 12, 2017 =========END UPDATE:This product is also recommended in a nutrition book called It's Not the Cans: The Best Nutrient Balance for a Stronger and Healthier YouThis is a brand I have come to trust. They are the true gold standard for the supplement industry. I hope that they continue to keep tight Quality Assurance checks and balances on their products. They can be a bit pricey sometimes but the quality and the correct dosage of their products are worth every penny. I have not tried all of their products. However, the ones that I do take always meet or exceed expectations.About this product: Vitamin D stores exceptionally well in your system for several weeks. Taking vitamin D3 daily actually slightly impairs utilization. Studies show that blood serum levels increased when supplemental vitamin D is not taken daily. I recommend taking one 2000 IU capsule, 3 or four nonconsecutive days per week. An example would be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This product should NOT be your only source of vitamin D. If you take a multivitamin it likely contains D3 as well.Megadosers suggest ingesting massive amounts of vitamin D for some imaginary benefits. A total of 8,400 IU to 12,600 IU per week (averages out to 1200 to 1800 IU per day) is more than enough for most people to achieve maximum benefit. Anything that averages more than 2000 IU per day (14,000 IU per week) is a waste of money, will not do anything more for you, and may have adverse effect due to excessive calcium absorbtion. You also need adequate magnesium levels to activate the vitamin D inside of you. Rather than megadosing on vitamin D, you will be better served by ensuring that you are getting 300 mg to 500 mg of quality magnesium each day. This will activate more of your vitamin D. Doctors rarely ensure that their patients have adequate magnesium in their diet before they prescribe massive doses of vitamin D due to a perceived deficiency. Although you may be moderately deficient in vitamin D, a moderate increase in D coupled with adequate magnesium intake will yield far better results than a massive increase in vitamin D alone. This is because magnesium is a very important component to your health and longevity.PS don't forget to get 100 mcg of vitamin K2 as well to protect your arteries from the increased calcium absorption and strengthen your bones and teeth.Checkout not the cans d ot com for more info.

Good choice for a vitamin D supplement
A lot of people have received recommendations from their health care providers to take vitamin D supplements to increase their levels based upon their lower blood tests. It seems to be the latest vitamin fad to take and it's hyped in health and medical articles as being a cure all for almost everything under the sun. Most people dont realize however that its magnesium that actually regulates our levels of vitamin D. The latest research shows magnesium deficiency shuts down the vitamin D synthesis and metabolism pathway. What's more, magnesium was found to have a regulating effect, raising and lowering vitamin D based on baseline levels. In people who had a baseline vitamin D level of 30 ng/mL (75 nmol/L) or below, magnesium supplementation raised their vitamin D level. However, in those who started out with higher vitamin D levels (from ∼30 to 50 ng/mL or 125 nmol/L), magnesium supplementation lowered their vitamin D. Also most people don’t realize that the raw 25-D we get through food and supplements is actually not what our bodies use. We break down this raw Vitamin D into its active form called Calcitriol. This process of turning vitamin D into calcitriol (1,25(OH)2D) is catalyzed by cytochrome P450 enzymes in liver and kidney. Over 600 enzyme systems require Magnesium as a cofactor to function optimally, including the cytochrome P450 enzymes. By consuming an optimal amount of magnesium, we may be able to lower the risks of vitamin D deficiency and optimize our vitamin D levels. By taking excessive amounts of Vitamin D pills when there is an existing imbalance of low magnesium and high calcium levels, it seems this can just further that imbalance rather then help with our health when in that imbalanced state.I've been taking this Nutrigold Vitamin D3 product for 2 years now, and feel that it is a good choice for this particular vitamin in a non excessive amount. It raised my levels during times when I was unable to get adequate healthy sun exposure as I cant fly off to jamaica or hawaii every day. Pills are tiny and I have had good experience with this companys products.

It's too early to tell, but I will update this review in time (updated)
Updated - 5/11/2014 - I am still using this product, and have recently purchased more of it. My Vitamin D level continues to be well within the recommended range, per my most recent physical.Original review starts here:About three years ago, I had a vitamin D deficiency, which I did not know about until I asked the doctor to check the levels, as there were comments about most of America having this problem, due to the amount of sun the northern latitudes does not get, (especially in winter). So back then I started on 5,000 IU for six months, using a drug store brand name. I then switched to 2,000 IU as I didn't want to overdose. After another six months went by, I had another physical, and had it tested again. My level was now in the normal range. So everything was going good. But then I switched to a health food store, a brand name product (store & specific brand to be unnamed)... and took those for another year, and my vitamin D dropped to even lower than it had been before this all started. It seems they were selling a product with zero vitamin D in it.Now, I'm taking this product, the Vitamin D3 Gold, 2000 IU. I will be getting another blood test in about 2-3 months. I will then update this review with the new data, which will hopefully be really good.Update: It's now September and I had my physical last month. My vitamin D is well into the normal range now, so I can now attest that this product is indeed the one you should consider buying. And, be careful about buying from The Vitamin Shoppe... it was them that sold me the product that was totally worthless. And I contacted them about that fact, and got zero response, ergo I am naming them as the company that sold me something that did not do what I thought it should do.
