MagLite RE1019 Heavy-Duty Rechargeable Halogen Flashlight System, Black

Tonight our small, black Yorkshire Terrier ran out the front door as my wife was walking in. It's Christmas night, cold and pitch black outside. Great... the dog usually runs 2 blocks before we see it, and we average about 40 minutes getting it back... in the daylight.I pull on a coat, and grab 2 nearly identical Maglites from the drawer.The rechargable MAGCharger RE1019 has a silver band. The other is an old-school Mag with 3 fresh D-cell alkaline batteries. They're about the same size and weight.I hand one to my wife, turn the other on and start walking. She got the D-cell and can see maybe 50' in front of her.I bought the RE1019 back in September on Amazon. I'm not sure I've used it before in a situation where I needed to light up our neighborhood, or where I was so keenly aware of the beam's strength and intensity (try finding a small black dog in a residential neighborhood, on Christmas night, with the alternative to not finding the dog being that you must explain to your sobbing children that you couldn't find their dog... you get the idea).Let me tell you... this is one INCREDIBLY BRIGHT light. It throws a beam a city block. Literally. I was lighting up driveways 5 houses away. Same weight as a 3 D-cell, same size, but the difference in the beam strength and intensity is AMAZING.I love MAG lites. Always have. I carried one when I worked security in college 25 years ago, and have owned many since then. This is the brightest and best I've ever owned. The rechargeable feature is great.I'm buying another one and giving the old 3 D-cell away. Maybe I'll buy 2 more.

I love the flashlight because I can see miles away. It's a little heavy because I have to use it every night when I go out to the farm to lock up the animals. I find myself dropping this flashlight a lot and then I'm needing a new bulb. I really love this flashlight. I just wish it would be a little lighter in weight.

maglites are a great product. only issue i had was the wrong dc charger was sent. my stars do not reflect the maglite product. i wish there was a way to return a wrong item without returning entire product.

Had this flash light for more then a year now in my work Van for Emergency, tried to use it last night found Battery Dead, charge it for 12 hours still dead,Called Maglite explained to the lady in warranty department what happen, her answer was not covered under warranty(she was rude acting like a Dictator and so happy to say it),she told me batteries covered for two years only, when I told her the date I purchased it she put me on hold and came back with new warranty information (only one year warranty).and warranty start at the date batteries was manufacture, mine was September 2011(CODE I 3911),and I bought the flash light on April 22 2012 so I lost eight months of warranty,I know batteries goes bad but not in one year,Poor Quality and Poor customer service. Chinese products is better then MAGLITE products and last longer.

I thought this was a pretty decent flashlight at first. Rechargable convienent for my job. Pretty powerful beam when on high. But the flashlight stopped working after a week. I would like a replacement battery if that would fix it because I don't have very much spare time because of the hours I work on a weekly basis. But Amazon does not give the option to contact the seller. Will not buy this product again and I do not reccomend it at all.

This is my go-to flashlight in case of power outage. Sits charging all the time and when I need it I have hours of a solid, bright flashlight. I bought the extra battery and rotate them back and forth every couple of months. Heavy and solid and is great for self defense if needed. Nice adjustable beam and very bright. Switch works really well. Quality for real. Really lights up the neighborhood when I take it with me on evening walks. I have kept it on for hours with no less brightness, in fact it hasn't gotten any dimmer at all. It is my favorite house flashlight that I keep plugged into the wall outlet and when the power goes out this is the flash light I grab right off. Quality product and a great name. If you want a serious flashlight when things go dark, this is the one to have. Solid, dependable and it always works each time I go to grab it.Tom

I've been using this same basic flashlight for 20+ years now in my job as an auto mechanic. It's the one tool I use on virtually every job, and it is a real workhorse. The one drawback with my older model lights was that the switches would eventually wear out, and Maglight will not sell a repair kit for the switch/socket ass'y. Hopefully, the new electronic on/off switch will hold up better.

I work private security, and needed a bright light that could also be used to bop someone on the head if they are trying to fight me for whatever reason, this light will do exactly that.Basically all the weight is in the battery, which is great. It gives the light a nice balance point making it easy to point, and easy to swing. The charger is made with an aluminum back plate (the rest is plastic) and you get an extra plate for mounting in your car or whatever. To switch the charger from one plate to another, simply depress the detent, and it will pop right off.The DC charger works great, and there is no issue with plugging it in, and keeping the light docked 24/7 to maintain a charge.The strobe function is a bit slow for my taste, but the dim mode is good when you dont want to totally blind people, and the bright mode has great range. It probably has a visible beam out to about 150 yards.
