Pin snapped during install after one year of use
**** UPDATE 8/2/2021 ****After having a phone conversation with a rep at Global Horizon and sending an email with pictures on 6/9/2021, I have not heard anymore from the company. I was asked to direct my email to a "pdarling", the person I spoke with. I have followed up two additional times by email with no responses. I will call customer support again and see if I have any better luck!________________________________________First, I use this hitch pin to tow a 32ft travel trailer. Fully loaded, the trailer reaches a weight of around 8500-9000 lbs (maybe?). Certainly not the heaviest trailer out there! I wanted the j-pin to reduce or eliminate the knocking noise (and help reduce wear) from movement of the hitch as we braked and accelerated while towing.I bought the pin end of May 2020. Installing it for that first camping trip was a breeze. The nut threaded on extremely easy and the provided wrench tightened it well. It went downhill from there. When we arrived at the campground on that first trip, I noticed the pin had become loose AND that it was bent (see the image - the j-part should be straight on the long side).Continued use of the pin resulted in the bend becoming more pronounced and the nut became harder to thread on. At one point, the nut was so hard to thread on that even using the provided wrench didn't cut it. It also bent (see slight bend in wrench in image - this is after straightening it with a hammer). I switched to using a socket wrench. Eventually the nut became difficult enough that I needed to use a long bar to put it on and take off.Our first camping trip at end of May 2021 (year later), the nut was very difficult to put on. On our return trip, I couldn't get the nut to thread completely on and when I attempted to back it off, the pin snapped instead!! Yes, I was using excessive force. And NO, up until this point the nut was NOT cross-threaded. I checked it every time.I believe what has happened is that the metal is soft enough that the bending while towing was causing a stretching of the pin and the thread pitch between the pin and the nut no longer matched making it difficult to thread on the nut. I have used a couple of other cheap pins with this same trailer and have not experienced any bending issues. So while this pin was great at reducing rattle while towing, it probably should NOT be used with heavier items and should be labeled with a max towing capacity.I have reached out to Draw-Tite (owned by Global Horizon). The item should be covered under warranty. Let's see what they say. I will update this review based on their resolution.

water and anything else that might get in and foul up the lock won't bother it
Quality made product. Well worth the price. As long as you can maintain the rubber cap over the lock, mud, water and anything else that might get in and foul up the lock won't bother it. May want to put some lubricant in the lock when you receive it. Seems a bit dry from the manufacturer. This item is easier to work with than other similar products. Keep in mind that no device will ever completely eliminate hitch rattle, but this sure does help. Before you buy it, this is a 5/8" pin and designed for 2" receivers. If you do not have the second smaller hole closer to the end of the receiver and your vehicle you could drill one. My receiver has the second hole and this J pin works great. The picture shows a round key for the lock. It is actually a flat key. The wrench for the nut is included, but a crescent wrench or box end wrench will work just as good.

No rattling!
The media could not be loaded. I have a DrawTite hitch designed to utilize the J-pin, so the pin was super easy to install and does its job beautifully. The lock feature is always nice, because of the cost of the pin…I don’t need it stolen…or my custom-made stainless hitch! I feel that it’s a little bit pricey overall for what it is. There are plenty of cheaper anti-rattle devices out there, but it goes with the hitch design, so I paid for it…but I did wait for a small discount to appear before I ordered it. 😉

Glad I changed to this J-pin lock
Glad I changed to this J-pin lock. Originally bought the standard Curt hitch lock, without any anti-rattle features. It was a real nice black finish that looks nice but functionally, it fell short. Especially the lock tumbler, that required 2 hands to lock with key. This J-pin lock with anti-rattle feature is a nice, all-in-one solution. Perfectly compatible with my Draw-Tite class 3, 2" hidden hitch for my 2017 Toyota RAV4 because the hitch already has the 2nd pin hole, perfectly aligned for this lock! Also, the lock tumbler does not require 2 hands or key to lock... has push button lock. Key is only to unlock. The included wrench is easy enough to stash just about anywhere in the car. It fell short of the perfect 5 stars for it's aesthetic, which is not very pleasing to look at and protrudes quite a lot. If only it has a black powder coat option. Otherwise, I'm pleased with this.

Gets rid of chatter, tight fit
I do furniture delivery with my enclosed trailer in my business. Both the wife and daughter have always complained about the "trailer sounds like it going to let loose" noise in the receiver. This device is my first attempt at address that so.....the good-this thing cinches down tight and noise free, like the security lock with rubber cap.... the not so good- you call this a wrench? I couldn't cram it up in their to tighten the nut in any way. Make a real wrench guys!!! And I did still give it 4 stars. A good wrench would have made it 5...........

It works for my requirement.
I does what it is supposed to do! We had to “modify” a.k.a bend the bracket that or wiring attaches to in order to get the pin inserted into the receiver. Then I used a real wrench to tighten it down. The one it comes with should also come with steel gloves. Also. I did tighten it up after a few miles of towing. Made a huge difference!! I’ll try it on my real truck!

Keys provided did not work with lock provided
I bought this in 2019 but did not get hitch installed until 2020 and did not try to tow anything until 2021. To my disappointment when I tried using the J-pin the keys did not work with the lock. Check this as soon as you receive it. For me it is too late for this one. I may order another because it is a good concept if everything works together.

Best solution I've found to stop rattle on a hitch carrier
If your receiver has the two holes to use this with, it's probably the best you'll find at stopping rattle on a hitch. I use with a hitch carrier and this combined with a 'normal' rattle reducing clamp has it completely locked down. Highly recommend (but check that your receiver is compatible).
