But when it is off, the traps stay open letting the live inserts fly out. Why are the flaps not close up?** A: Clean the mechanism thoroughly. The springs that keep the flaps closed are not very strong. If they were, the flaps would never open. **Q: what is the voltage of the item?** A: No clue about the voltage because I sent it back within a week. It was on my mosquito and moth infested patio that whole time, and there was not one dead bug in it, easy cleanup for return. I suggest, you keep shopping.
