This book works well for what I need it for - class. It was assigned. With that said, the author seems very liberal with his views on drugs and drug policy. This is made known throughout the book. The author does do a good job of telling how to drug came to be and how it became illegal and criminalized and then its spotlight today for the most part, in American society.Although my views are liberals with the author when it comes to the US drug policy, I wish the author put more emphasis on the other side - wanting to keep drugs criminalized and illegal.

I ordered this textbook for my class. My school bookstore wanted $130.00 for a used one. Buying this book saved me $100.00 - literally!!! The book was used but was in excellent condition. I was sooo happy with this purchase! Best purchase I have ever made on Amazon! This book had no marks and no highlighting. It did have a few page earmarks, but who cares. The cover was in good condition. Couldn't have asked for a better book!

I really got a deal with this purchase. The book looked as if it had never been used. For a paper back book, the cover was flat and fresh. No curls at the ends and no creases from bending.

One of my favorite textbooks from college... very glad I purchased. I reference it for all kinds of drug trivia in conversation. the history of drug development and the legal changes in illicit drugs is very interesting and detailed. quick reference section in the back is great!

This was an easy and interesting read. It's great as a reference manual as well. Worth the purchase! I bought the next to last edition
