Modern European History

Modern European History is a very well written outline to European History. It is not overwhelmingly concerned with small details, rather it shows the big picture in European History. This is helpful for the AP Exam, for other classes, and for any debate. It doesn't have much detail but has many smaller things (The War of Jenkin's Ear, The Moroccan Crises, etc.) that aren't in the other AP books. This is helpful for citing exampls, especially in the free response areas. Its outline format makes it easy to remember, and also helpful for the big picture in cultural, political, and economic changes over the centuries. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone studying for the AP exam, along with the Princeton Review guide to European History.

This is the perfect resource for anyone looking for a thorough, yet concise, review book for a European history class. Although I did not sign up for the AP European History class at my school, my teacher recommended that I sign up to take the test. In April, I bought this book. I read it every day until the exam. By the time I took the exam, I was adequately prepared for it. I got a 3. There is no doubt in my mind that if I had used it over a longer period of time and read it without any distractions, I would have gotten a 5. I highly recommend this book to all European history students, AP or otherwise.

Good review. I purchased this review book along with that Crash Course review book (with a blonde boy in front of it) for my ap euro class. I preferred reading out of this one because it felt like I was reading a book. The Crash Course copy was more like reading from notes whereas this one gave you the full understanding. If you are taking the class and want to truly learn and understand the history about Europe, I reccomend this one. But if you just need a last second cram and want to quickly review the "important stuff" then buy the Crash Course. This review book overall had great information and wasn't hard to follow at all. There are multiple sections covering each era. The only issue was not purchasing it sooner. *MAKE YOUR PURCHASE BEFORE YOU TAKE THE CLASS.* My big mistake was buying it just 1-2 weeks before the exam

Only works well as a review of the whole AP EuroHis course. Does not focus on revised exam.

Purchased for my high schooler for her AP Euro History course as her teacher recommended as a companion to the text book. Perfect for us and a good resource for test preparation. It is used often in our house. Does a good job breaking down and reviewing content from the larger text book but is not meant as a replacement to the course material. Arrived quickly and as promised. This is the best general modern European history book that I own. It is concise, comprehensive, and well-organized. It does not go into depth into any events or historical figures (as it is written as an overview), but it covers fully and accurately every major event and person from the late Middle Ages to modern times. I highly recommend it as an indispensable reference for any student of European history.

Good reference.

This book got me a 5 on the AP European History Exam. After failing to do any studying whatsoever through March, I read this book through once, cover to cover, over the course of about two weeks as the exam approached (I'm a slow reader so this was about three to four hours a day). I then went back and re-read chapters I either thought were especially important or that I felt I needed to review. Before I read this book, I only had a vague knowledge of European History; afterward I felt I had a strong grasp on the subject. I walked into the exam feeling very prepared. I can confidently say that this book is the reason I got a 5 on the exam.
