Useful but short
Thus far, it has been a useful companion, and it has the basics down fairly well. It covers all major subjects and their subsections, from engine to body. It has basic fault diagnostics, and service recommendations. I've yet to find false information or bad advice. Note however, there are illustrations that do not represent the whole range of cars this manual covers. They're correct for some, wrong for others. That being said, it is a little short, and is missing information on certain parts. I've been restoring and fixing classic cars for years, so I like to think I know what I'm doing (don't we all). What I need is more detailed information on this particular car, and less of the general information. This book provides a good balance of both, but along with its length, it does tend to fall a bit short on the details. That's when you turn to the factory issued shop manuals.

Depends on what kind of information you need
This is a great reference for schematics and some specs. If you want detailed instructions on how to do something, this absolutely is not the right manual. As just one of many examples, in the head gasket section it tells you to adjust the valves, but even in the cylinder head section, there are no directions on how to do so. It will tell you to install rocker arms and pushrods, but won't explain how anywhere in the manual. A seasoned mechanic may not need to know these things, but seasoned mechanics dont buy Haynes manuals. Nonetheless, it has been very useful for non-procedural information and the pictures/schematics are amazingly useful. Its not junk, but it is not a well rounded repair manual.

Not really impressed
Back in the day I had a Chilton manual for the '70 Duster I owned; it covered everything all engines etc. I wrongly asumed this would also. I believe it should be more clearly stated that it only covers the 6 cylinder engines. Other than that I guess it wil be help full.PS If you really want detail get the Dodge Body, Chassis, Service Manual from Bishko Automobile Literature on CD.

68 dodge dart Haynes Manual
Manual probably has more information than I need. Lots of pictures and details. Restoring an old Dart so this will really come in handy. One note though, this wasn't called out in the details, but this specific manual is for the 6-cylinder version.

Expected a bit more based on other Haynes Manuals I've had over the years. Passable for basic procedures.

good reference
manual comes in handy very often, takes some of the guessing out and extra time 'fixing-what-you-didnt-need-to-mess-up' out. purchase was well worth it

First manual that gives me excellent info on my classic car. Would have preferred more info on v8 models.
