This wheel comes with a cork insert, which is easy on gerbil paws. So, they get a lot of running fun.However, the cork is only glued in one spot, and eventually comes loose. Elmer's Glue along the entire cork backing takes care of that. The wheel has a rim around the opening. Sandpaper should be used to take out any rough or sharp edges. Not a big issue,This wheel is glued together, so it should be washed with a wet cloth or good paper towels. Do not soak the wheel,m as it will come apart.While it is not the best thing out there, quality wise, my gerbils enjoy the comfort on their paws, and run on this wheel every time they have a chance.

This is a very cute wheel. I ordered the large for my syrian. I suggest sealing it before use, with something like mod podge. My only complaint is that some of the edges are kind of rough. It just took some light sanding to smooth it down. Easy fix.

Not quiet. Wheel is not perfectly round and is mounted crooked, so it bumps the base every time it goes round. On top of that, had to screw the base into the bottom of the cage so it doesn’t move across the floor while he runs. I tried to support the arm the wheel is mounted on with another piece of wood so it doesn’t hit the base, but it was not enough to stop the bumping. The design is flawed or poorly executed. Would be a pain to return, but I want to.

It is a great sturdy wheel. The only problem is it is hard to clean. There is a cork liner and with all the running that my critters do, it needs to be cleaned. There are no instructions on how to do the cleaning. The last time I cleaned it I guess I used too much water and the spine popped open. I was able to glue it back on and added a tack.

Definitely not for chinchillas. We have 2 4 month olds and while they fit in it, just barely. Was going to return it but in true chin fashion, one took a nibble right away.

Returned this wheel as the outside of the wheel is very thin like a thick paper and my rescued chipmunk would chew it up very fast. Have a omen wheel that he loves but has gotten too small for him. They don't have in lg. so ordered this one. Will now order the bestmemories in a large. their reviews are so so. ( Hoping I luck out} ( why people give a bad review on broken products beats me as most of the time it is packaging or rough deliver.

The first one of these we bought was great, and is still going strong. Would give it 5 stars. However, have bought 2 mores since then and both have had issues. Sent one back immediately as it was broken at the base.The next one we got is extremely loose/wobbly at the spindle, extremely loud, and I expect will not last long.It's a shame, because we were very satisfied with out initial purchase, but apparently the law of averages was on our side the first go-around.I'll look elsewhere for the next one.

Ordered and when it arrived it was broken (where the stand attached to the base was broken and the wheel tilted forward stopping it from spinning) but the postage box was damaged too so decided to get a replacement assuming it was just roughed up in the post, but the replacement arrived in an undamaged postage box but the wheel was broken (the wheel itself was detached from the frame) so in my opinion definitely not worth the $40.

I waited a long time for this. All ti have it delivered broken. It wasn't in a box that could have protected it. It was in a bag. VERY disappointed since I paid $ 50 for the medium..
