Pocket Reducer

The product works as designed. I've had no problems with the pocket reducers shifting or moving when I miss and hit them. That being said, I don't use them nearly as much as I thought I would. The problem for me is that they reduce the pocket about 1 3/4 - 2 inches. In other words, my 5 inch pockets are reduced to just over 3 inches, which makes them more like circus pockets and less like a practical practice tool. I find myself using just one of the reducers more than actually putting them on all of the pockets and playing. With one of the reducers on, I can warm up a little before I play by shooting at a really tight pocket for a few minutes. However, with all of them on, I can't really play because there is no cheating the pocket or manipulating shots to play position and all players know that positional play and practice is more important than just about anything else.For me, the better option to improve my game is to shim my pockets. This will tighten the pockets slightly, and will allow my aim to be improved gradually, over time, in a subtle fashion that won't affect my ability to manipulate shots and focus on position play. I still like to throw a reducer on every once in a while to warm up or work on my stroke, but the idea of playing on a table full of pro pocket reducers seems counter-productive to me.

The verdict is still out on this one. I believe it works the way he thought it would, making the pocket smaller to improve his aim.

This is a great training tool to help with your accuracy when shooting. The angles on the pockets become different but it makes you a better shot.

This is an excellent practice aid, but beware of over-use as it could eventually widen your pocket shims, albeit a tiny amount but, it still noticeably. This is because the springs are very strong (and actually take a bit of effort to position in the pockets because of this). Also, it can cramp your normal game if used too much as it is impossible to 'cheat' the pocket using this aid. But as an aiming aid (in a line-up for example), they are really good and force you to concentrate your skills. Take them off and the pockets then seem like buckets, so I can really recommend using this product.Just remember to TAKE THEM OFF when you have finished or they can ruin the spacing of your normal pocket width.I would recommend you asking your table fitter to reduce your regular pocket size as an alternative. This would be a more realistic option in the long run. Mine are 4.25" and quite tight enough!
