Drew Men’s, Big Easy Boot

I have two nice pair of boots with side zippers that have become very difficult for me to put on. Due to arthritis, I have limited range of comfortable motion in one leg. These open wide and the Velcro strap is easy for me to reach and open/close. So these really deliver on my primary reason for purchase, which is ease of getting on and off. The tongue of the boot is not attached to the shaft of the boot, so they are not waterproof to the top of the boot, but the design seems adequate to keep snow out, which is my primary need. I see several complaints in other reviews about the height of the toe box. Remember there are two orthotic inserts; if you need more height in the toe box, the supplied directions recommend removing the lower insert. I seem to have enough room with both in. I have not had these long enough to rate durability; however, they appear well constructed.

They have a good range of sizes and fit as expected. There was no discomfortable breaking in period. Edit: One of the velcro straps wore out within a month or two. I tend to be a little rough with my shoes and bind them tight, but that's still too fast for a $200 shoe so I am dropping the review from 5 stars to 4. They're still usable and there are no other durability issues so it's still an OK purchase.

You must have no instep to your foot. the vertical distance or overall height of your foot, even in sizes up to 13 6E is only less than 2 inches. Aside from Sideshow Bob, who has 13 6E feet with an instep only 2 inches high? These are perfectly sized by the footprint, but the uppers are ridiculously tight vertically. For $175, they should leap onto your feet. We couldn't even begin to actually get them on, even though the footprint was perfect. I guess leather is expensive. These needed twice as much of that. What a disappointment.

The velcro straps are on the right side. Better design would be the left side.

I bought these for my husband a year ago. He is not diabetic but has a reoccurring skin condition on his feet so he needs shoes that will not irritate them. He wears them every day on a construction site and he likes the fit and says they are very comfortable. Unfortunately, he told me that both soles now have big holes where they are separating from the boot and they have been coming apart for the past few months. The Velcro flap has also needed to be stitched back together on both boots because this is falling apart too. We live in the south, so there is no harsh climate or snow or salt that would cause them to disintegrate like this. He still really likes the boot, but I'm very hesitant to purchase these again.

Mentioning that the shoe is slightly tight is not a bad thing. I was allowing natural stretching and I think that is the case after wearing them a week they feel comfortable. Beautifully constructed shoe/boot of obvious high quality. Velcro closure is fantastic. Shipped in record time.

Sadly these I had to return. Its not the company or shoes fault per se. My feet and legs are oddly shaped. I've been trying unsuccessfully to find a boot that will fit me. These had a weird area near the toe that felt like they were cutting in. Probably not the shoe so much as my foot, but they just weren't workable for me.
