Great price! I bought this for my husband for Father’s Day.

I’m in the habit of blaming myself when something goes wrong, which has also put me in the habit of educating myself on how to use a new tool. I watched so many videos and consulted with fishermen friends and strangers for a year before purchasing this product. I purchased a protective tube, several lightweight varieties of line and lure, and I practiced the knots for months. The first chance I get to go to the lake and I have everything ready. My line is run, my lure is tied. I’d had a little trouble with the reel handle not staying on and not always engaging with the spinner reel, but I figured that was my inexperience. As you can see in the pictures, I started with a simple lure and hook. Not pictured is the worm, he also did not survive. On my FIRST cast this top of the line, state of the art rod and reel, snapped. I guess the gale force wind of my timid side cast was too much. Now again, when something goes wrong I practice self reflection . Had I made a mistake? There were no branches to the side or above me. The protective tube had been on the rod from day one and was on off for stringing the line. Line and lure were all light weight and the worm was skinny. As far as I can tell, it just snapped between manufacturing connection points. Im going to try taping it, but also shop for a new one. I just… on the first cast?!???! It was an ‘eff you’ in particular kind of day for me.

These are not the most expensive or the cheapest fishing reels and rods, but if you want to fish with good performing and durable fishing gear, these are a good choice.

The reel is very smooth. the rod has a nice lite action. Great trout stream combo.

My original review got removed because I said how the rod didn’t come in an apparently that’s not relevant to potential buyers.

this is a bare bones rod and reel. have to buy line ( filament) and lures etc to complete the package. that is a good thing because you can get what you want. quality vs price. not a lot of whip on the rod but it is new so will break it in with a few uses. rod is very light and reel is very smooth motion. perfect example of quality/price for me to enjoy fishing this summer. very happy
