good shears. All metal. not one piece.
good shears. All metal, very sharp and funcitonal. I was expecting a bit more heft. These are on the lighter side. They're hard to beat for the money. Most stuff at this price has plastic handles, which buckle on me when I need to cut up a lobster tail or chicken bone. I butterfly chicken with shears frequently, so I decided to give these a try. They are good.I paid $13 for a pair, which is a good price. At the $20 range, I'd opt for Tojiro brand or similar, which you can find around that price. They'll be heavier duty and also ship from USA so you don't have to wait 6 weeks. Also to note: These scissors have 2 separate pieces per side. The handles and the blades. See the pic I attached. Other scissors, like the Tojiro are solid forged, which is what I thought I was getting. This explains the lightweight feel- the handles are not as dense a metal as the blade material. I have not tried to unscrew them to learn more; nor have I noticed any issue with the strength of scissors. yet...

Very impressed, this one is a keeper!
I was really tired of plastic handles on kitchen shears, so was looking for an all metal product at a good price. I decided to try this one and I am very pleased with it. It's very sharp, right out to the tip, sturdy, feels good in the hand (I have medium sized hands, ring size 7) and it has worked very well in kitchen tasks where I have used it. It cleans easily, but I think I am also going to purchase the "detachable" version (http://www.amazon.com/Kitchen-Scissors-Japan-Stainless-Detachable/dp/B001TUTI94/ref=pd_sim_sbs_79_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=41pmw6V9QkL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=160EVF9FBPP1JV972NY6) for cutting raw meat or poultry. That's just a personal preference, because I have been used to using one that comes apart for cutting raw chicken. But by purchasing both types, I get 2 very high quality products for less than ONE more expensive all metal kitchen shears. Good product.

I like this pair of scissors very much
I like this pair of scissors very much. First,I am sure they are going to stay with me for a long long time, because they are made of sturdy Japanese stainless steel. And Japanese stainless steel stays sharp for a long time.Secondly, because the handles are also made of the same stainless steelthey are not going to break suddenly pretty soon like the ones having plastic handles.Thank you very much.Van C Nguyen

Great scissors, poor shears.
These are good scissors, but they are SCISSORS, not shears. They do not have the heft I would want in a set of true kitchen shears. If you need to cut herbs or packages, these are excellent. For meats, sinews, etc. they are underwhelming and the handles are too thin to comfortably apply significant pressure.I am pleased with the quality as scissors - they are sharp and well-fitted, but they do not do the job I intended them for. They are a quality item, but not beefy enough for my needs.

Best scissors ever
The sharpness, fit, and finish of these scissors are remarkable... I have another pair of Japanese scissors which cost more than double and they don't perform as well. Don't be put off by the riveted blades, these scissors will not let you down.

The scissors work great and the owner also sent a nice note along ...
I would definitely buy these again and from Kaneshika. They took a while to arrive but, coming from Japan they most likely just got held up in customs. The scissors work great and the owner also sent a nice note along with them. Youhei, tell your daughter thank you also for the candy, it was a great idea! =)
