It appears that since the time when these prior reviews were written, Coleman has updated the hinges, because I can attest that they do indeed fit perfectly in place of the failing plastic hinges that originally came with my Coleman Cooler 5286B, 5296, 5248. They required no alteration or adjustment. I did decide to use the original screws that came with my Coleman Cooler, as they are quite a bit more robust than the smaller screws which accompany the replacement plastic hinges. I am posting photos showing the product numbers on the bottom of my Coleman Cooler (5286B, 5296, 5248), as well as the newly installed replacement hinges, with the original hinges placed alongside, to show the equivalent dimensions.
