Paqui Tortilla Chips Carolina Reaper Madness One Chip Challenge Tortilla Chip (16 oz, 2-Pack)

I split this chip with a fiend, and we both experienced pretty much the same thing:Flavor was almost like a burned chip, a little bit bitter at first, which after a few seconds, gave way to a building crescendo of spicy hot that made our tongues, then mouths, then lips, then most of our faces feel a searing level of spiciness.Like a dummy, I took a sip of my beer and remembered the book from my youth “The Bed Was On Fire When I Laid Down On It.” I knew to not do that, but it was like an instinct, like a person in a burning high rise building... stay in and be burned to death, or jump? The beer was like throwing a bucket of water on a pool of burning gasoline, and the burn in my mouth suddenly rushed to seat my throat and tonsils, and backed up into my sinuses, and *I think* a little seeped into my brain. Suddenly, my whole head felt like it was infested with angry hornets who wanted OUT, and I wished I hadn’t had that innocent sip of beer. I put my beer down and staggered away from it to reduce the temptation.I began contemplating many of my poor life choices. I looked at the clock... barely a minute in, and I was already wondering what in Hell’s most uncharted corners of Hell had I done...Inhale for a cooling breath? Ha! My trachea and lungs got a fresh scorching.The heat started to relax after about 5 minutes and by about 10 minutes, I was recovering well. By about 15 minutes, I was good to go.It was fun, I like the box as a trophy, and we will laugh about it for years to come... but the flavor was not really good (as if it lasted very long). It was “I Dare Ya” hot, as in, I’d never recommend it to anyone who was looking for a lovely, complex, spicy culinary experience. But for the folks who are looking for a dare, an experience like summering a mountain that few would dare attempt, this would beTHEonly way to go.Glad I did it, would recommend to those who are into that, and I won’t bother doing it again... Well, maybe if it was a double-dog dare.

Me and my brother have had some of the most sour and spicy foods in the world. We’ve had the worlds hottest gummy (Lil Nitro) 9m scoville, worlds hottest peanut (12m scoville), worlds most sour candy, satans blood hot sauce, and now this! This made everything else feel like absolutely nothing!! I was at the sink yelling and forcing my brother to spoon feed me ice cream for 15 minutes. OMG!!! Do not purchase just to show off with your friends if you have never had something at least 2m scoville units before. I’m not saying that you have to be a trained professional but this is serious stuff and I really underestimated it. Other than that I think it is also important to note that the one I received was not the yellow/red/black box. It was the blue one (I think the 2022 version). I’m 15 btw. Anyone who found this comment interesting or helpful or you tried it yourself please reply to it because I’d love to here thoughts.

Didn’t expect to taste good but didn’t expect it to taste like cardboard. I completed the 5 minute challenge but my 2 friends did not, would say the first 5 minutes are definitely the hardest and roughest part, after 7-8 minutes the heat slowly dies down, Ofcourse with milk and whatever you choose to help you with the burning. After about 15 minutes, it’s pretty much little to not hear left. BUT that was the easiest part of this challenge, compared to the aftermath the challenge seems like cakewalk. After about 1.5 hours after, we had a slightly burning sensation in the stomach.. all of sudden it was like a huge punch in the gut, intense stomach pain, rushed to the bathroom only to find myself on all 4’s on the floor from the pain, unable to sit or do anything. Broke out in a sweat when I didn’t even sweat during the chip itself. The pain lasted what seemed like 10 minutes or so but felt like forever literally on the floor contemplating if I need to go to the hospital at one point. The aftermath is no joke, wouldn’t do it ever again.

The price was a little expensive

Ok so I’ve been dying to try this chip and this challenge because I’ve seen several people do it. Considering that I love spicy food I thought I would’ve been able to handle it. First off, the chip has a horrible taste and it’s super peppery! The heat instantly hits you once you put it in your mouth. I really didn’t feel anything at first other than my mouth burning until like 20 min later I’m guessing I had a late reaction. WHEN I TELL YOU MY STOMACH WAS BURNING.. it felt like all my insides were on fire. Man I’ve never experienced this type of pain and discomfort I thought I had to call an ambulance because of how bad it was. The stomach pain would come and go and I would get hot and cold flashes. Keep in mind this pain lasted me 2 hours.. I’m not sure why that long but it did! Now I know what this chip taste like and how it made me feel but I’m never doing that again! It was definitely a challenge.

Nice challenge. I was nervous going into it due to the reviews but it was nowhere near as hot as I was expecting. It was hot for sure but no drinks were needed. If you like really spicy food this is easy. If you like hot food this is a workout. The burn fades in 5 minutes and is gone in 10. Don't be a rookie, eat something before and you will avoid the stomach pains people talk about.Overall totally worth it
