Bad Picture, Nice Product, Short Life
Just ONCE in my life, I'd like the hamburger they sell me in a restaurant to half as good as the ones in their TV ads. On TV, they are 50% taller than they are wise, but the ones they serve are only half as tall as that, Judging from the picture of this item, you could cook a farm breakfast for four in one skillet. I fid it's suitable for a 1/3 pound burger, or two eggs over light; any more and you don;t have room for your turner.I was a little confused as to how to assemble things. It's probably because I'm getting senile. After five minutes, though, things sorta fit into place,Electric skillets have a dial showing whar settings correspond to what temperatures. This doesn'yhave that. In fact there aren't even 1-to-10 markings. That's the most serious drawback to this product. I know where I cook most things on my old range, and putting it on a cooler setting to fry eggs was a no brainer, but if I turn the knob, trying to find an appropriate setting for eggs, I can't easily go back to my hash-brown or hamburger setting. Not is there a light to tell yu that the skillet has reached the temperature for that setting. On the other hand, it's hard to find a better product in this size or this price range. Trying to fry eggs, fry hash browns, or cook a burger in a microwave is an exercise in futility. This would be a nice product for a dorm room, or for taking with you on a road trip so you can cook breakfast in your motel room and save money (as well as getting food cooked right.) I'm using it in conjunction with a microwave in an apartment that doesn't have a hookup for a range. I still can't bake bread, but it fills most of my needs. This product has its limitations, but if you can live with them, it's a useful tool that takes up very little space - and besides that, it's cute. I'm not sorry I bought it.-----Added 12/2013The spring holding thermostat and skillet together no longer functions, due to plastic breaking. This is not due to accident or abuse.I am fairly handy, but I cannot render it safe to use. Consequently, I cannot recommend this skillet to ANYONE.

nice little electric fry pan
I got this so I could fry small things like a personal omlet or griddle cakethe variable heat adjustment is pretty decent for a small inexpensive panthe heating element area Inside the pan does get hotter than the middle- I have has some scorching there.and a little bit of sticking- I do brush on a bit of cooking oil before I put anything in.Cleaning can be a little finicky- because I do not use Any Scouring items ( ie nylon scrubbies)- the one that came with the unit is akin to a bath scrubber.I did sharpen the edge of the neat wooden spatula that came with the pan.For Cleaning I just simmer anything left in the pan with about 1/2 to 3/4 inches of water & then let is setany " scrubbing" is more like a gentle scraping with the Wooden Spatula. No Metal Touches the inside of that pan.Because of the heating element on the bottom , I do the ( ok I am paranoid) of setting the pan either on a ceramic tile or a silicone baking mat or pot holder so I do not scorch/ melt the Formica counter top.Taking care of this little pan should give me a useful cooking tool with a long service life
