DesertWolf Vintage Canvas Backpack - Genuine Leather Shoulder Bag - Fit 13'' Laptop

I spent three days looking up the perfect backpack for daily use that was sturdy, that would fit my macbook pro retina 13", and didn't look gigantic on me. After the 3 day binge reading comments on about 100 backpacks on amazon I finally bought this one. I'm a 5 ft tall college student that carries a laptop, iPad, and books around daily. I've gone through probably 3 backpacks in my 3 years. I had the cute and cheap, then the sturdy but bulky backpacks, and i thought i'd never find an in between. This backpack is pretty simplistic (which is what i was going for), it has a slot for your laptop, one extra pocket on the front, and two small pockets in the interior. I have to say that this backpack surpassed my expectations.The backpack looks just like it's photos, the color is pretty on point. It should specify that it doesn't fit large laptops. The laptop in the photo seems more like a Chromebook or netbook.First of all, right out of the package you'll notice how soft the leather is, YES there are scratches like other reviews may have mentioned, but i think that just adds to the rugged look. As i maneuvering the straps and buckles i was also surprised to find how hefty the canvas was, and the buttons and buckles were made of heavy metal. The handles and straps are cushioned so that it won't weigh down on your shoulders with all the heavy whatnot you carry around. You can definitely tell that this product was hand made, some stitches stick out of the lining, and there are loose threads here and there. What I like most about the interior of this bag is that the padded pouch that you slide your laptop into has a DURABLE elastic band with velcro, so don't be afraid to pull hard on this bad boy. Most importantly, it fits my laptop with a hardshell case snuggly, although it's hard to wrap the elastic band all the way over, but you could if you wanted to. My iPad air fits in the front pocket with room for all my chargers and cables.Overall it feels good, looks good, and fits everything I need. Five star.

I love this backpack! It's comfortable to wear and I've received a lot of compliments on it. I am not quite so pleased with the "padded compartment" for laptops, though. There's one padded insert sewn in to create a separated area, but the back and bottom are just the regular lining, which offers little protection. I use a lightweight sleeve for my laptop because I just don't trust it as is . As others have commented, I am skeptical that this would hold a 15" MBP; it seems to barely fit over my 11" MacBook Air. Additionally, the zipper on mine is pretty crummy: after a few weeks, it's not even worth messing with it to get it zipped. I don't mind it too much because of the flap, but that's definitely why it's only getting three stars. All in all, though, this is a decent bag!

I really wanted to like this bag.I knew it was going to be a small bag with few pockets, but I was still surprised at its size when I received it. Since the exact dimensions were given, that was my fault so I can't dock any points for that. Being a 5' tall female, it wasn't that bad. Being a student was a little hard but manageable.My reason for taking away the three stars was because of a construction and a material problem. About a month and a half into the bag, I noticed the stitching on the leather that wraps around the leather handle was starting to unravel. I've been careful when using the handle since, but it's still coming undone and I'm not very confident with my ability to stitch leather bag together. The other problem is the metal zipper. I knew that metal zipper get off track and break easily, so I wasn't surprised when parts of the zipper would unzip after I zipped them shut. This was mostly fine since I could just backtrack and rezip that part and it'd be fine. One day though, it got caught and I haven't been able to zip it shut properly since. I just leave the bag unzipped at all times since it's less trouble than fiddling with the zipper for 5 minutes. The bag is still usable because of the leather flap that goes over the opening and snaps into place, but I am even less confident in my ability to replace a zipper and get this bag fully functioning again. Unfortunately, the problems happened after the window to return the bag closed, so I cannot return or refund the bag and will just have to look for another one.Aside from these couple problems, the bag is beautiful with high quality leather, canvas, lining, snaps, and buckles.

Overall it is a great bag, It's a nice style and I've gotten many compliments on it. Also, so far I've found the bag to be sturdy and well made. However, as others have noted, the bag is definitely on the small side. Without its protective cover, my 11.6 laptop fits perfectly but it was a tight squeeze when I inserted my laptop with the cover on. Another thing, the leather portion of the bag was a bit more scratched than I expected. However, I would recommend this bag to others in fact I purchased another one for my sister as a gift because she liked it so much. She likes her bag as well.Update 5-24-16The zipper broke and I had it for a little over two months. This was very surprising since I only had my 11.5in laptop and a notebook in it. :(
