Probiotic Boosting Serum for Face, Soothing Facial Serum, 1 oz

Love Wilma Schumann collagen serum and was hoping the probiotic would be as magical... not so far. Scent isn’t noticeable. It seems to absorb pretty well (doesn’t rest on skin), though it’s thick enough that I’d hesitate to use it on oily skin. Jury’s still out, but so far haven’t noticed any change or improvement in skin appearance.

My esthetician recommended this serum for me before my wedding and I am hooked. It smells so good, has a very light, creamy texture without being too thick. It feels somewhat cooling when putting it on and after using it for over 6 months, I notice my skin smoother and brighter looking. It won’t break the bank. I highly recommend this.

To me scent is a big deal with face creams and serums. I really like how this feels on my skin, but the scent is quite strong. It is very woodsy and reminds me of men’s cologne. I like men’s cologne scents, but not in face creams. I am quite surprised because I checked the ingredients and “perfume” is not listed. It is definitely not a natural essential oil scent. I want to love this face serum, but the scent is way too strong for me. I ended up using it as body serum to use up the bottle, but not whiling to use this on my face because it’s so overpowering in scent.

This serum goes on smooth and dries without any tackiness. It makes my skin glow and look so youthful. I use it in conjunction with the Eye Contour Revitalizing Serum and the Day Creme. But its great to use on its own as well.

As serums go, this one is a good value. I have extensive experience with skin care products and this one is a good choice if you don't want to spend $100 or more for a serum.

The William Schumann Probiotic Boosting Serum is a noble pursuit at probiotic skincare, but it has way too much fragrance for people with sensitive skin. While the cream has a nice demi-matte finish the heavy rose fragrance in the product caused inflammation and irritation to my face. I have tried other products from William Schumann like their DNA Replenishing Serum, which is great and doesn't have any added fragrance. The overabundance of fragrance is also true for their probiotic cream that is supposed to be used in conjunction with this product but only at night. Maybe if your skin can handle fragrance this is the serum for you, but otherwise, I would steer clear.

This comes in a beautiful, heavy, glass bottle. The glass has a frosted type of look. The bottle comes in a box, mine was ripped and smashed. But, thankfully the bottle inside was fine and unharmed. The bottle has a pump, which is always nice,There’s a piece of paper included that has a “Product Recommendation Chart” that has different skin types, and then different regimens. The different skin goals and regimens for them, “Maintain,” and regimens like, “Dry/Sensitive Skin Basic Regimen” and “Normal/Combination Skin Basic Regimen.” There’s “Treat,” with regimens like, “Anti-Aging” and “Sensitive & Irritated Skin.” For each of these, it then tells you products of theirs for that regimen and when to use them (day, night, or day & night) depending on your skin type. So, I really liked that was included. However, when I was looking at this sheet, it didn’t have this product listed anywhere on it. I had gotten the Probiotic Revive Creme, and the “Product Recommendation Chart” that came with that had a section “Skin Health” that listed the products - “Probiotic Boosting Serum,” “Probiotic Revive Creme,” and “Collagen Bio-Boost.” So, not seeing the “Skin Health” section on this chart and not seeing the Probiotic Boosting Serum anywhere on the chart I was pretty confused. So, I grabbed the “Product Recommendation Chart that came with the Probiotic Revive Creme. I saw on there that “Skin Health” was after “Skin Lightening & Brightening” and before “Protect.” The Product Recommendation Chart that came with this Probiotic Boosting Serum had the sections “Skin Lightening & Brightening” and “Protect,” but, no “Skin Health.” Then, I saw at the bottom of the Product Recommendation Chart that came with the Probiotic Boosting Serum it said, “©2017 Wilma Schumann Skin Care.” So, then I looked at the bottom of the Product Recommendation Chart that came with the Probiotic Revive Creme and it said, ©2019 Wilma Schumann Skin Care.” (I showed a photo of both pages circling the areas and showing where it’s missing on the one). So, I’m not sure why they included a product recommendation chart that 1) was from 2017 and 2) doesn’t even include the product I received. But, it’s odd. After seeing that it made me wonder if the box was so smashed and ripped because the product was old. I looked on the bottle and saw 2019 (I showed a photo). It also shows its good for 12 months once opened. So, really odd to have included the chart from 2017 that doesn’t even have the product on it 🤦‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ I looked at the Probiotic Revive Creme and it said 2019 too.The product itself has a beautiful, light, clean type of scent. The product is white.It doesn’t feel like a usual serum. It doesn’t feel quite as thin as most serums, it also feels a lot creamier than any serum I’ve ever tried. Maybe because of the Shea butter in it? It is like the consistency of a thin cream (see photos). Honestly, it reminds me of the Probiotic Revive Creme - Same scent, both are white, and both feel creamy. The only difference I noticed was the Probiotic Revive Creme is thicker. But, once you start spreading the Probiotic Revive Creme onto your face, it feels just like this serum. It says on the product page, “For BEST RESULTS use this product during the day (AM) and the Probiotic Revive Crème at night (PM).” So, I like that this has such a creamy, moisturizing feel to you. I use this in the morning, and then the Probiotic Revive Creme at night. My face has been feeling really hydrated since I’ve started using the 2 together. But, even in the daytime after just using this, my skin feels so moisturized, like I wouldn’t even need to apply moisturizer. And my skin is normal to dry, more on the drier side with some really dry areas, so anytime my face doesn’t feel like I need to add moisturizer is amazing!It glides onto the skin easily. A little goes a long way. Afterwards, my face feels really moisturized. It does take a little bit to get fully absorbed, but you don’t feel greasy or anything during that wait. It just feels nice and moisturizing, even after its fully absorbed.It is pricey ($39 at the time of writing this review). You get 1 oz, which doesn’t seem like much at that price. That’s definitely on the pricier side. Are there serums that provide the same type of hydration for less? I don’t really think I’ve come across a serum that feels as moisturizing as this one. Of course, I’ve tried serums that make my face feel moisturized, but not like this one does. The feel of this serum, the creaminess of it, is unlike any other serum I’ve tried. When I use it, I don’t feel like I HAVE to use a moisturizer. Since a little of this goes a long way, I can justify paying a little bit higher of a price for a serum that will last me a long time. AND making my face feel so moisturized after using it. But, I can get that from using a moisturizer. So, only time will tell, if this lives up to the claims of “calm your skin, and promote a clearer and more radiant complexion.” If it feels so great on my skin and my skin is clearer and more radiant after using this for a while, then it would be worth the price to me.Overall, I really am enjoying this so far. I love how hydrated it makes my skin feel. I’m interested to see if it does “calm my skin, and promote a clearer & more radiant complexion” as it claims. Since a little goes such a long way and it will last a good amount of time and it makes my skin feel so moisturized, if it also does everything else it claims about calming my skin and promoting a clearer and more radiant complexion, then it will be the perfect serum! So, I will update this review once I’ve used it for longer and will be able to tell if it does calm my skin and promote a clearer and more radiant complexion.
