Ordered twice, both damaged, but fun.
This looked like it could be very good in principle. It was intended in my case as a fire grate insert to cheer up the fireplace for Christmas, and it’s a neat size - about 27cms long, 14and a half deep, 21and a half centimetres tall. The fire effect is bright and vaguely convincing and basically a bit of fun. Price reasonable compared with others. My first order arrived in its own box, no outer packaging at all, and whilst the packaging was undamaged, with the item tucked very neatly inside with foam packing that kept it from moving, when it was carefully removed from the box it clearly had something loose rattling around inside. A quick squint through a joint hole showed the ‘flame making’ mechanism had snapped. I couldn’t access the inside so - I sent it back. As it was not sold by Amazon I had to go through the palaver of finding a more substantial box to send it back in and taking it to the Post Office, though the return was quickly agreed by the seller and free postage supplied. Fair enough.More in hope than expectation, in the meantime I ordered for a second time. Same undamaged but vulnerable packaging, same apparently secure inner protection, but this time a snapped off piece of the frame already lying at the bottom of the packaging with some of it pushed into the foam as if the item had been forced in. An added 6” dangly bit of dry glue hanging inside the fake fire area spoilt the look a little.Initially I wanted to send it back and try again but just didn’t have the heart to find another box that would fit and then trudge back down to the post office. And for my purposes the broken frame won’t matter. So I’m keeping it. It looks, from the numbers bought and generally good reviews, that I’ve just been unlucky, and it is otherwise a fairly good, quiet, safe way to pretend you’ve got a nice fire in the grate on Christmas Day. If yours arrives undamaged, enjoy it!

Very cute fire place
The media could not be loaded. I absolutey love this! For the price it’s brilliant the delivery was very quick. I love that it’s not too big it fits perfectly in my chimney area and it only requires two aa batteries for it. You can switch it on and off with a little button just underneath. The noise was fine I didn’t have any issues with the noise every now and again it would make spit noises to make it sound and appear realistic but other than that it isn’t like a loud and irritating noise whatsoever. Honestly it was worth every penny and it just adds so much coziness to a room.

Ordered 3 times - each one defective
Had really high hopes for this item after seeing other reviews - it arrived and was exactly what I wanted except the led had a defect in the screen. Returned and ordered a new one, only for someone’s broken return to be sent to me. Returned and ordered a new one…. This one again was defective and didn’t work. Some kind of quality check needs to happen with this item / orders that are being dispatched. Severely disappointed and will source from elsewhere.

Fire glow only
I was disappointed at first as i thought it was an electric heater that you could plug in but it’s just a fire glow that needs batteries. I kept it as it does look nice and cosy even though it gives off no heat. So i gave it 3 star as it’s not an electric fire as advertised. It makes no noise. The glow is also quite dim and thats with new batteries. On the plus side, its light weight and mobile and safe.

Surprisingly realistic fire
I am chuffed to bits with this little fake fireplace. I didn't expect too much for £20 but now I think it's fairly good value for money. The flame effect is as good as some of the electric fires, in my opinion. Only downside is that the on/off switch is underneath, but this is probably due to the simplistic electronics. My clever son has managed to connect it to Alexa with a USB connection, so now it is controlled by voice. Don’t ask me how. All I know is it makes me feel warm just looking at it and it goes on and off with the lights.

A lovely little thing but it does eat batteries
Despite some of it's drawbacks I still leave 5 stars as I knew before I bought it of it's shortcomings. It is a lovely little thing (check it's size) and looks well by itself. The flame -or rather smoke effect is really good and easy on the eye. I saw a tear down of one of these on YouTube and it does use some clever technology - an array of leds below a rotating rod which has reflective wands attached. But because the effects rely on the internal rotating rod (motor) then expect some hum and a drain on batteries for sure. Also don't knock it around when it is working or you risk damaging the moving parts. The hum is only noticeable if you sit close to it but from across the room you'd really have to strain to hear it even if the room is totally silent.Because of the motor it does eat batteries. I rather use rechargeable but many electronic gadgets are designed for 1.5v standard alkaline batteries rather than 1.2v of rechargeable regrettably. Rechargeables will work but expect only about 2/3 hours of use. I suspect that 1.5v alkalines would give you twice that.So for occasional events it is ok but using as a door light over Christmas for example you would need a bucket of batteries, expensive and wasteful IMO.Still for the 11 euro it cost me it is a real keeper!
