Very cute fire place
The media could not be loaded. I absolutey love this! For the price it’s brilliant the delivery was very quick. I love that it’s not too big it fits perfectly in my chimney area and it only requires two aa batteries for it. You can switch it on and off with a little button just underneath. The noise was fine I didn’t have any issues with the noise every now and again it would make spit noises to make it sound and appear realistic but other than that it isn’t like a loud and irritating noise whatsoever. Honestly it was worth every penny and it just adds so much coziness to a room.

Perfect!
Well I didn't realise how darned excited I could get over a fake fire lamp thingy but there you go! I am SO happy with this. It's *exactly* what I was after and really completes the fireplace. Yes, it's all plastic and doesn't look so good in daylight... but if you're just after some ambience for your blocked/empty fireplace in the evenings then you can't go wrong with this! Couldn't get my camera to stay in focus for a video - but it looks exactly like all the other clips on here. A nice warm glow with just a bit of flickering, which is quite relaxing and definitely makes the room feel more cosy.To anyone wondering if it makes a noise? No it's completely silent. So if yours is making any clicking noises then something is probably broken so you'll need to get a replacement.**It takes 3 AA batteries. On/off switch on base.

Small but enough
The fire is small and maybe too small for most buyers but was just the right size for me as the flame effect on my fire has broken and this works so well as it sits in the fire and looks great. Shame it's battery only but will see how long the batteries last.

Very lifelike and a good cozy feel
It is a little small compared to my fireplace gap and will build around it - but gives a great feel of coziness !

AWFUL
1) The product was dusty and the glass was covered in greasy fingerprints.2) The internal components were loose. Once I managed to place them correctly - with a struggle - the weird clicking noise stopped.3) The backplate is too large and does not touch the artificial logs as its supposed to. The result is that the logs all seem to be emitting a silver glow, as if they were radioactive. To fix this I had to cut a wooden joist and fit it inside to keep the backplate in the correct place - touching the logs.4) The construction is flimsy. If you shake it even slightly the light goes off as if there's a faulty connection.Ever the optimist, I think I can make this thing half-decent but it's going to take some work. If you're expecting something that looks great as soon as you switch it on, forget it. It's cheap and nasty. I rarely give negative reviews on Amazon, but in this instance I was left with no option.

Best budget faux fire on Amazon.
After reading the reviews, I was concerned it wouldn't work out of the box, but although I had to reseat the batteries, it worked great. Nice fire effect and it's silent. I'm giving it 3 stars because it's battery only and the on switch is awkwardly underneath the unit. It's a shame there are not better quality faux fires available on Amazon that are this small size. It's either £20 cheap things, or the full blown bigger ones that actually generate heat.

nice glow of it.
did'nt know what this would look like but i am very pleased with it, i have it inside my open fire and it gives off a nice glow in the evenings when i don't light the fire. it's battery operated so i don't know yet how long it will last.

A lovely little thing but it does eat batteries
Despite some of it's drawbacks I still leave 5 stars as I knew before I bought it of it's shortcomings. It is a lovely little thing (check it's size) and looks well by itself. The flame -or rather smoke effect is really good and easy on the eye. I saw a tear down of one of these on YouTube and it does use some clever technology - an array of leds below a rotating rod which has reflective wands attached. But because the effects rely on the internal rotating rod (motor) then expect some hum and a drain on batteries for sure. Also don't knock it around when it is working or you risk damaging the moving parts. The hum is only noticeable if you sit close to it but from across the room you'd really have to strain to hear it even if the room is totally silent.Because of the motor it does eat batteries. I rather use rechargeable but many electronic gadgets are designed for 1.5v standard alkaline batteries rather than 1.2v of rechargeable regrettably. Rechargeables will work but expect only about 2/3 hours of use. I suspect that 1.5v alkalines would give you twice that.So for occasional events it is ok but using as a door light over Christmas for example you would need a bucket of batteries, expensive and wasteful IMO.Still for the 11 euro it cost me it is a real keeper!
