Tandy LeatherCraftool� Adjustable "V" Gouge 31811-00

It's an effective tool. The adjustable depth stays constant once set and it's easy to push through the leather.

I bought the Tandy version and the C.S. Osborne versions of these gouges.The Tandy version is a keeper. The V-cut is sharp and easy to adjust the depth.You might want to avoid the C.S. Osborne version as it is of poor quality, not sharp and far too wobbly to get a good cut. The threaded barrel adjuster on the C.S. Osborne is far too loose to allow a good angle to be set and is completely useless.

I needed to bend some particularly thick leather back on itself and this is exactly what did the trick. For this price? This tool is great!!

It would be even better if it arrived sharp. The blade bevel on the inner V was uneven making the tool completely unuseable. It would just bulldoze the leather. I had to fix it by resharpening, going from 320 to 3000 sand paper to get a sharp mirror finish. You can buy the 72 piece sandpaper assortment on Amazon to do it. Nice tool but the blade needs to be sharpened right out the gate.
