Make sure your power to the fixture is off before you start working! Duh!
Excellent product. Easily installs in the old factory position w/o any modification needed. Just carefully, one pair at a time, remove the old wires and replace w/ the new of same color, and voila, your fixture will work like new again. I used a small screwdriver to gently pry out the old wiring from the bulb contacts and then the new wires just push right into place, no splicing or wire nuts needed. This unit replaced one of the old (30yrs) magnetic ballasts.

Direct replacement for a GE 2 lamp 4 foot long T12 fixture
Don't overlook the ballast as being the problem if your fluorescent light fixture is not working. Simple to replace. This is a standard ballast for a 2 light, 4 foot long T12 bulbs. The process is basically the same for all fluorescent light fixtures . Don't be intimidated by all the wires. There are a lot of wires but all are color coded Blue, Yellow, Red, White (common), and black (power). The wire gauge is easy to work with. With the power off to the fixture, remove the bulbs first. Then remove the metal wire cover by freeing it from the slots on the frame. Blue, Red, and Yellow have 2 sets of wires. Remove the wire nuts to free up the wires that comes from the ballast. it is not important which set of the color wires you run the new wires to as long as you keep red to red, blue to blue, yellow to yellow. You will have 8 wires 2 of each color and one common wire (white) and the power (load) black wire.Once all the wires are free, remove the screw that holds the ballast in place and take it down. Take note of the numbers on it and look for a similar replacement. The ballast are much lighter and thinner now . Reverse the process with the new ballast. Push the wires up into fixture and replace the metal cover. If any wires are sticking out from underneath push them gently back in to hide them. For under 20 dollars you have restored your fixture. If you are not comfortable with doing this you should call an electrician or have a friend who is handy do it for you.

Uses same mounting holes as 45 yo GE ballast I was replacing
Mounting holes for the existing GE ballast I was replacing in a 45 year old fixture were the same as for this new GE ballast. Note, did not come w/ wire nuts. Works fine.

Good product
Installed easily enough, need to solder or wirenut wires. Bolted in place of old balast, was a little shorter but much smaller and lighter. Revived my dads old shop light housings.

Let There Be Illumination
Not much to complain about with this product. It was reasonably easy to have installed and it works. I'll flip the switch over this product.

Awesome Ballast
Bought 2 of these for a direct replacement for a two worn out magnetic ballasts in a 4 T12 (4' 40w) light fixture. The ballast length matched exactly so they mounted exactly where the old ballasts were, and plenty of wire to wire directly into the tombstones so you don't have to splice. They fire right up. I did a little homework and these are the ballasts you want, you won't be disappointed.

Not sure if these are rejects from from production items ...
Not sure if these are rejects from from production items or what. Installed and it worked for about 2 weeks and quit. I am out of the return window so I loose. They sell this one and Phillips @ local HD cheaper. HD provides returns for their products longer as well.

Excellent product!
I just replaced the ballasts in both of my laundry room neon light fixtures (each fixture uses two T12 48-inch long 34 or 40W neon tubes and has its own ballast) and these ballasts are working perfectly. I like the fact that the ballasts have very long wires, so they reach anywhere and the wires come pre-stripped which saves time during installation. There is even a connection diagram printed on the ballast showing you where each wire should be connected. These ballasts are also light, weighing only about half as much as the 20+ year old ballasts I was replacing. I'm no electrician, but I found these ballasts easy to connect by simply re-using the twist-on wire connectors and mounting hardware from my old ballast installation. If you just make sure that this is the correct type of ballast for your application and of course, turn off the electricity at the circuit breaker panel before starting the job(!) you should have no problems.

Direct Replacement for old ballast
Very impressed, light weight compared to the old ones, easy to install and work like they should. They fit directly in place where the old one was.

Easy to install replacement
Much smaller and lighter than mechanical ballast it replaced. I was impressed that the ends matched the old screw holes.

Works!
Great replacement ballast. Unfortunately not a "rapid start" unit, which is what my last one was so theres a bit of a flicker before turning on. Wouldn't normally be an issue but its in my kitchen so its noticeable. Wiring diagram right on unit. Wire lengths were a bit too short for my 48" light fixture so i had to jerry rig it to male it work but otherwise everything seems fine.
