Nice Drive
I gave this drive 5 stars because it works great. It's fast and easy to use. However, I was a little disappointed because this is supposed to be a 12TB drive and there was only 10.9TB available on it. I was so surprised that I looked at the box to be sure that they sent the right one. I understand that some of the drive software may use up some of the space for operating reasons, but a loss of 1.1TB seems excessive to me. So, this is more like an 11TB drive and not a 12TB drive. That being said, the drive works great and it does what I need it to do. Also, I think the price is fair for an 11TB drive. I just wish they would advertise it for the space that it actually has. I always prefer honesty.

Better than expected; well worth the money
I am so pleased with this storage device. It holds a "ton" of information, is very light weight and small. It was easy to use.

I received a DOA, but the seller was SUPER responsive and took no time in refunding me the order. Will hopefully buy another shortly and hope I don't get another DOA! :D

You can not stack these drives, but you could stand several next to each other.
This review is about the SINGLE DRIVE 8TB version of the WD MyBook. Green & white cardboard box, black plastic drive case. No Encryption. Go ahead & buy it, it is ok. :-)SPEED: The drive is faster than I expected. It took about 1 day to copy 5.14 TB to it via USB 3. Those were mostly music files 3MB to 60mb plus some videos. I did not time it or watch it closely. You can easily play movies or music from this drive without skipping.HEAT: the drive did NOT get hot. Not even very warm while chugging away for almost a whole day relentlessly copying over 5 TB of data. The drive has vents on the 2 ends. You are supposed to put the vent side up, so the heat can exit. That means the drive will be standing on end, which is probably not how you were going to place it. There are rubber feet on the other end. I suspect that the people who said this drive runs hot did not stand the drive up as intended.

every one should get this harddrive it is the best one in the worldi put 120000 videos on it and still ahe not even half of the hard drive but have at leasted9000 more to gothanks again amazon for the best hard drive and a good price for it

Great Unit!
I removed the white label 12GB drive from this unit and installed it into my PC. Talk about cheap storage! I didn't do the "pin 3 mod", I just used a "molex to sata power" adapter, so no mod required!

FAILS complete drive tests
Twice purchased this product (sent the first one back) and both hard drives couldn't pass complete drive tests. I waited too long on the second purchase and now I'm screwed. Please purchase some other drive as these drives seem to fail like CRAZY. Also don't be an idiot like me, do the tests the day it arrives.

This drive worked great unliked the expensive LaCie drive I bought at the same time.
This drive is doing great! I would not spend the extra money on more expense less reliable dives.

Reliable 12TB WD External Hard Drive
this drive is very quiet and works well transfering large volume files at fast speeds...Western Digital Quality...a good choice for large archives... arrived fast ...works nicely with Windows 10 ... Worth buying !!
