Janod J05500 Wooden Magnetic World Map Puzzle 92 Pieces, French Version

I would have given zero stars for this if allowed... I was hoping the poor reviews were people just being cranky, but that's not the case. Our map arrived not only with the damaged corners that everyone else is talking about, but also missing three pieces! I blame Amazon itself for shipping damage... the map is 30x18x0.25, but the box it arrived in was 37x29x3.5, and had nothing more than a single, undersized sheet of brown wrapping paper attempting to hold it all together. As for the missing pieces, that could have happened at the factory. The magnets really aren't strong enough. They hold when things are steady, but bounce the map pieces around (e.g. carrying it by the string handle), and they have a tendency to start sliding down and falling off.

LOVE this magnetic puzzle map. Fun, educational, and adorable. Yes, mine too came with a damaged corner (that seems could have been easily remedied by adding some bubble wrap around the puzzle board or corner protection when packaging for shipping) but it is so nice that I can and will just overlook the imperfection. Great map, great toy, great decoration!Add’l comment/update — ordered a second map puzzle and it too arrived damaged. Therefore removed an add’l star (not on the product or vendor, but for Amazon’s lack of proper packaging which could easily avoid this and the hassle involved with sending it back and reordering.)

Arrived with a damaged corner. Too bad, but I am not willing to spend time figuring how to have a replacement. Map looks sturdy, is colorful but shape of countries and continents is a bit unusual. Hawaii is placed really close to West coast. Puzzle pieces are not all shaped like countries, some have multiple countries which is okay but others cut the countries in multiple parts and it is a bit odd. Even my child was surprised about it. Overall not as nice as I expected, but good enough for my purpose: teach geography to my kids.

I really enjoy that each of the magnets have pictures representative of the area. Unfortunately, the board is pretty flimsy particle board and broke after one of the young kids stepped on it while it was propped up on something. We can still use the magnets without the board on any magnetic surface, but the puzzle aspect is gone.

This is a lovely puzzle, and will make a useful addition to our homeschooling lessons this year, however like other reviewers I was disappointed to receive a damaged product (see pic) the corner was bent, crumpled and broken on the back. There was zero damage to the packaging it came in, so I strongly suspect it was sent to us in this condition. I would have returned for a refund or replacement if I hadn't unboxed it in front of my delighted six year old who wanted to get to work on the puzzle right away. Buyers beware, I suggest opening out of sight of your kids in case you need to return it.

Terrific world map. A lot of issues previous reviews complained if (old country names, misspelling) have been rectified. The magnetic pull is strong (also, the board comes with a super thin plastic shield that you gotta remove first! It's easy to miss.) Our son loves to play with it, we have contests to see who can complete sections faster, take turns reading country names, talk about environmental stuff, etc. There's so many ways to use this tool. Only drawback is its great weight. This thing is massive, it requires mollybolts to hang without ripping out of the wall.

It is a really nice world puzzle, my 4yo really likes it. Great for education purpose! But it was arrived with damaged corners, I had to return and reorder it. But still arrived with the same problem. We kept one that was just slightly damaged, since my kid really wants it.

We bought this puzzle in addition to the USA map puzzle. It is beautiful but still has typos (Lybia instead of Libya for instance). I also don't think it will hold up to heavy use. We got it yesterday and the corners of the pieces are already starting to come away on some pieces. I do like that it's magnetic because our 3 year old can place pieces on his own without them moving around too much. So...I recommend with reservations.

Flimsy cardboard packaging isn't compatible for the delivery of a heavy wooden puzzle. Magnets aren't strong enough to stay in place when puzzle is hung vertically (as intended), leaving it only usable on a horizontal surface.This would have been a lovely puzzle, would it have been put together better, stronger magnets and better, more protective packaging (as of writing).What is a little bit of a sticking point is that politically divided areas, such as Israel are included but not Palestine. These are disputed territory thus both should be named/represented on a child's map to avoid discriminating against either party. This also broadens the target market for what has the potential to be a wonderful product.Don't we all want are children to grow up in a fair, free & peaceful world?Spread love for all, not hate for one.

Very disappointed with this product. Within a few days it became clear the larger country pieces do not have enough magnetic power to stick to the map, particularly if hung on wall. This means the large pieces fall almost straight away and drag many of the rest of the pieces with them.I could not find a contact service for Janod within Amazon but would appreciate some assistance with this.I should say this is so disappointing as otherwise it seems like a great educational product which our daughter took to instantly and learned facts about countries straight away. It was one of the highlights of her birthday gifts and she's quite upset it's now useless. For a high price you expect it to perform its most basic function - stick the countries on the map.

The packaging was OK, but could be improved. It was punched (courier fault I assume) and I first feared the product would be damaged before opening it. The board is quite heavy, and large, so needs to have the space to put it.There is no problem with magnetism, all pieces holding in place perfecting sturdily. The finish is very good. It's a high quality product. We have had the France version for 2 years now and it's still in perfect condition despite it being handled rather savagely by our toddler.My only criticism is on the choice of pieces, I find there are a few too many pieces in russia or canada, with nothing interesting on them, would rather have separate pieces for Scandinavia or other places where countries are clubbed together. Also it would be better if seas were cut out (like the red sea or the med). But overall it's still very well done.

Bought a smaller magnetic map for my son for Christmas (he’s 3) but he can already put all the pieces in the right place so I’ve upgraded to this one. It’s absolutely huge and so many pieces. Unlike others ours arrived in perfect condition, and the magnets are perfectly strong enough to hang on the wall.Packaging says 7-12 but I have no problem playing with it with my 3 year old as long as you’re constantly supervising. He is autistic and non verbal but loves puzzles so I’m hoping this will be popular for a while yet!

Really good quality. Well made and will last for a long time. The magnets are strong too. I did lots of research on a world puzzle and this was ideal as the fact its magnetic means you can teach your child about the continents and oceans first then add the layer of the countries. Love it and have already recommended it to many friends.
