Push real hard to be able to grab the old insert and removed with no problem. The second one was easier because I made sure the tool head was in the right angle and popped out easy. The insertion of the new ones was a breeze and can't imagine doing it with any other tool. It is solid machined and will last a long time. Heck it is designed for this process and yes paid for itself right away not having to go to a dentist .
