These are simply wonderful. I tested them against my more expensive microphones by playing music through my monitors, and A/B-ing these mics and my others, comparing how close they sound to the monitors through my Sennheiser HD 380 pro headphones. When listening to music in my studio, my monitor speakers sound just like those headphones. The results of this sound check proves these mics to be very flat and detailed, and with very little coloration or distortion or noise. There was a bit more top end with these compared to the large diaphragm condensers. The large diaphragm mics have a warm round sound, where these are a tad brighter, but with all the delicate detail you could ask for, without any harshness or bite, and all the lows you will need. Great deal!

Am I Crazy?
I put these up against a set of AKG C214's on grand piano and guess what? There was no comparison. The 214's sounded very midrangy and honky. This may work for live sound but the Monoprice mics were clear and warm without any EQ. I will be using them on the symphony coming up and LOVE them for drum overheads as well. At this price it's stupid to not buy 2 pair. PS a little trick, if you slide the mic way back in the mounting clip to block the vents, the capsule reacts like an omni.

possibly defective?
I don't know if this one was defective or what since everyone else seems to think it is good. It recorded VERY quietly and if I turned up the record volume, the background/white noise to be just as loud as what I was trying to record.... I honestly ended up going back to my $20 lavalier mic.

Happy with this purchase
I am very happy with this pair of mics. I've been recording with them since I got them, and they are giving me good results. IMHO, better overall than my MXL 993 and more natural sounding than my AKG P170. At this price point (critical distinction :-), I would definitely recommend them. I did not give them 5 stars only because the construction is plastic rather than metal. This may have an effect on longevity, but perhaps not.

Works great! Good clean sound and a professional look
Works great! Good clean sound and a professional look. Requires a power source, and an adapter cable if you are looking to plug it into a computer. Lucky for me I had someone with experience point this out to me before buying it so I could get it all at once. Plug and play.

I'm still getting used to the mic, but so far so good. It really picks up unamplified instruments well and gives good true sound to them. Again, I'm still experimenting with it.

Great mic for the price.
Great mic for the price. Handles a lot of SPL. not noisy and you don't have to crank the gain. I wish the materials were a bit better, feels cheap and plastic but what can you ask for at this price?Just did a job with them as overheads pretty pleased. I do wish they had a bit more too end but not to shabby

Probably the best condenser mic in it's price range
Probably the best condenser mic in it's price range. Sounds just as good as the Yeti Pro & the Shure SM7B that I have as well (at least in our multi-person podcast setup).
