Great Mix of Hand Stitched & Sewing Machine Projects
I bought this book for my 11 year old, she had recently received her first sewing machine and I wanted a super basic instructional book for a beginner. This book was a perfect fit for her, it provided a variety of different projects that combined both hand stitched and sewing machine projects which she loved. The projects are easy to follow with lots of great photos to help you throughout. The sewing projects themselves are adorable, skill level appropriate and the author does a wonderful job of choosing projects that a beginner would actually want to do.

My granddaughter loves it.
My granddaughter has been asking me to teach her to sew. This book has fantastic age appropriate, easy to follow patterns for kids. Her first project was a pin cushion. She was so proud that she made it herself! And it is so useful. She has already started her next project. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this little (7years old) sewer.

Great purchase
I purchased this for my 12 year old daughter after showing interest in sewing. The instructions are very beginner friendly, the patterns included are practical things that many use daily and it seems to be of high quality paper and binding. That’s definitely a plus with children

There is a lot to like about this book
This is a really fun book! The projects are all photographed with the kids making the item and I also love all of the quotes from the kids. Photography was great and the book has a lot of energy. I also really like the vet clinic in the back that shows kids how to repair their stuffed animals and the general mending part. The spiral binding makes this easy and the big step-by-step photography make the book really appealing. My only slight hesitation comes from my 7 year-old who thinks that all of the projects look 'sloppy'. There may be a balance between achievable and aspirational that the projects didn't achieve, but on the whole, I'd rather have the projects realistically sewn: My comment to said 7 year-old was that they tried their best and so should he!

We love it
My family loves this book! I have kids ages 7, 5, 3, and 1. The 7 and 5 year old can do most of the projects all on their own with very little assistance from me. I help the 3 year old and completely do the projects so the 1 year old has something too. My 7yo is a boy and the 5 and 3yos are girlsThe instructions are well written, the patterns easy, the pictures are super helpful and the kiddos love it.

fantastic book for beginners
I bought this for my 7 year old granddaughter. This is a tremendous first time sewing book. I will be teaching her long distance so I needed something thorough and easily understood. The pictures are very good as well as the text. I like the fact that all the work shown was done by kids. What a great way to demonstrate to kids their work is just fine. The book is broken down very well from what tools to use, how to take care of them, how to use them, as well as the projects. I especially liked the section on how to correct mistakes, great idea! We already used that section & it kept her from being discouraged since she now knows mistakes can be fixed. I used the book to teach her the running & whipstitch, thread her needle & tie a knot before I had to leave but I'm sure the book will help her reinforce everything. She was so excited when she opened a box of scrap fabric from my sewing room that I'm sure she will make lots of projects. This book is so good I am ordering another one for me so I can teach her from a distance. I also bought the sewing machine book & was very pleased with it also.

Fantastic sewing book
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 8yr old daughter and it has been really great for her. I taught her the basics of sewing and laid down the law that she had to finish a few small projects by hand before she could try a machine. I know, I'm a horribly mean mother. Shockingly she rebelled a bit, and didn't want to make the projects I suggested. This book has some really fun little projects that I never could have come up with and it has her interested in sewing again. The directions are clear and she loves that she has her own patterns. I've tried to be very hands off with her projects and the book is so well done that she has hardly needed any help. I highly recommend this to any child, or parent and child team who wants to get into sewing.

An okay book
Unfortunately local library did not available to review first. Was going to use for an elementary after school group, but projects weren't what I was looking for. Considered returning, but kept and may donate to library.
