If you want to get in shape and feel better this is the plan for you.
Great book for getting in shape and doing it the smart way. No funny diets or crazy exercise routines. Just a lot of good advice that really works if you follow the plan. I started Jan 1st and have lost inches and pounds and feel fantastic. And eating 5-6 small meals a day you are never hungry.I really like it that she takes into consideration the different ages/stages of a woman' life and gives you sound advice for each one. For my stage, I'm over 60, she states don't expect to look like you did in your 20's. Expect to shed fat and pounds, build muscle and feel good.

This is the one & only fitness book you need!
Finally.... a book is written for women by a female medical doctor and nutritionist. She is the voice of reason, and her writing style is conversational and clear. She covers everything from A-to-Z regarding what to expect in the four stages of a woman’s life. In her Mind-Mouth-Muscle format, which she outlines clearly in her book, she discusses what’s going on in your mind, what & how much you should eat, how to train your muscles. She includes clear drawings of specific exercises... gives you all the detail you need about everything. Ladies, this is a comprehensive guide for how to take charge of your life & health. It is as inspiring as it is practical... When I read it, I felt like she knew me personally (or has been reading my mail!) as she described things to expect as you grow older. She also includes motivational stories about real women, and includes “Before and After” photos of them as well as “X years later” photos, to show that her plan works. I’ve already bought and given this book to a dear friend, and also plan to buy it for my daughters as well. I simply cannot say enough good things about it and urge you to take charge of your life... no matter how old or overweight you are! You’re worth it.

A real tool for attaining health and fitness for life
Body for Life for Women should be considered an essential guide for women's preventive heath. Because it is focused specifically on the unique health and fitness needs and problems encountered by women, it is much more valuable for women than general health or diet texts. While it promotes a plan of "12 weeks to a fabulous body"; to see it as a mere diet or fitness book sells short its real value. A diet book may help us (temporarily) lose a few pounds; this book aims to show us how to create a healthy body in which we can live independently throughout our lives. As a spokesperson on health, Dr. Peeke is the real thing. She is an expert on the most current understanding of nutrition, preventive health and women's issues. The book is well written, inspiring and accessible. It gives women, especially those of us over 40, real hope and guidance as we wonder why "what we have always done" to stay fit is not working any more. I found especially interesting the section on life milestones, which describes a woman's health priorities at each stage of life. The mind principles, which urge us to examine the attitudes that shape our behavior, are a wake-up call. Dr. Peeke is a big fan of the Nike slogan "Just Do It". In this book, she tells us exactly what it is that we must just do and provides the tools and motivation to keep doing it.

Finally, A book that addresses women's needs with "weight removal".
I am working with clients seeking "weight removal" through the use of hypnotherapy, which addresses the "mind" part of the "mind, mouth, muscle" equation. I think Dr. Peeke's "Body for Life for Women" will be the "perfect FIT" for the ladies that come to me. I will encourage them to take the "12- Week Challenge"! Thank you ever so much for putting this together.

Skim it and take what speaks to you
I work-out regularly---I have all my life. I gained weight because of a medication glitch. The nutritionist that I worked with to lose the weight recommended this book. I think that it is good for women who are just getting to know themselves physically and mentally. It was overkill for me. In order to keep my life sane, I adapted the workout routine in the book to fit with the fitness classes thet I was already taking. Had I tried to adhere to every tenant and suggestion in the book, I'd have been miserable and I'd have had to re-arrange my entire life. Plus, some of the weight-checking and note-posting that the author suggests would have served only to make me more depressed over my weight gain. I know myself and I took from the book what would work for me and left the rest.

She Gets It
As a 57 year old woman continually trying to attain mind/body health, marathon runner, psychologist, mother, I INSIST that all women purchase and keep next to their beds "Body for Life for Women." Pam's mantra is all about life style and taking care of yourself, without which you simply cannot nurture the other important people in your life. She understands that beauty is not a number on the scale or solely what exists externally. A beautiful woman is a whole woman, well-balanced and well cared for.I have bought copies of Pam's book for my grown daughters and all my female patients have homework assignments - to imprint the book on the brain. If you read nothing else the rest of the year, do yourself a favor and buy "Body For Life For Women." It is a treasure that will nourish you for the rest of your healthy life.Dr. Deborah Potashnik Hecker, Washington DC

Print too small and formatted incorrectly
Print is too small in paperback version. Format and pages referenced are incorrect; no chart on page 106 like it mentions. It’s over 5 pages and should be 1 chart.I used to have the regular Body For Life book in hard cover. It has a muscle toning section for women. Was hoping the one specific for Women was as good. Not so in paperback, and not sure I want to risk an order for the hard copy version, so I’m ordering another copy of the regular that I had before. It was so good I gave it to a friend years ago.
