All the Restaurants in New York

Aside from eating and traveling, I feel as if this book has cultured me even more from just turning the pages. The drawings are great. Stories are immersive. Comments are witty. I've recently moved very far from the city, so this book is a piece of nostalgia and home all bound into one work of art. Definitely worth the purchase. It also looks beautiful on the shelf once finished.

This was a gift for my Dad. We went through all the restaurants together. Some I had been to with as we are foodies, some with the family, and some he shared memories of great times he had with my mom and friends over the years! Great concept to have the sketch/pic of restaurant which jogged our memories of our own experiences. We also loved to read others shared stories!

Alas, I've left New York City (not the state....upstate now, where people hate the city!) But among my many lovely memories of my 26 years in NYC are the panoply of restaurants, from simple to grand. Donahue's book pays loving homage to these memories and places, old and new. I love pen and ink line drawings and Donahue is a master.

Very good book. But the author left out a lot of the French Restsurants out.

Clever portrayal of restaurants.

What a wonderful book!! John's drawings are fantastic and the notes and comments add just the right touch. I am visiting familiar places without leaving my house!
