Fantastic book....loved every page!
This book is very well written. My granddaughter, age 9, read it to me and I followed along with my own copy. She lives in England and I live in the USA. I was able to help her with the big words. If you are 9 or 99 you will like this book. Not many writers can write for many age levels and hold the interest of the reader but Jacqueline Wilson definitely has the gift. I loved this book.

Delightful
Hetty Feather is a delightful character, her imagination keeps ones interest and wondering what will happen next. Her life is full of highs and lows, and also takes the reader back to a time and generation whose lives were harsh often contrasting the cruelty of mankind to the compassion of mankind.

I found the content and writing quite mature for the age for which it was recommended. Ended up reading it aloud to third grader
Fast-paced and well written. I found the content and writing quite mature for the age for which it was recommended. Ended up reading it aloud to third graders because even as guided reading it was a bit difficult.

Awesome book
Left me wanting to read more about Hetty Feather. Wouldn't be amazing be able to remember being just a few days old and tell about it later in your life. You will love the fiery little redhead Betty. She is spunky , funny and fights for what she believes are the rights and fight against the wrongs whether it's done to her or someone else. Loved reading this book and look forward to reading part 2 :)

Very nice and interesting book ,for kids 12 and older
I think this was a very good book .And I really like how they show kids in the olden times how they lived and how it was like for some kids .It was very eye opening. I love reading books like this I think they are very fascinating and there was so much drama and thriller you could say like you didn't know what was going to happen .And I loved how she found her mother in the end that was really nice.

amazing
hetty feather is a page turner and a heartwarmer. hetty, the main character, gets placed in the foundling hospital by her true mother. She gets christened by the name Hetty Feather and, a few days later, gets given to a foundling mother who takes in the foundlings and gives them a home and food until they are five years old, when they go back to the hospital. Hetty follows through with her life at the foundling hospital. Will she ever find out who her true mother is?I liked this book because it was a real page turner with cliffhangers and lots of foreshadowing. i like hettys adventures abd look foward to reading the next book, sapphire battersea

and thought it was amazing! Here are all the children's book reviews
These are the book reviews from the children in Sycamore class (2017-18) from Bedford Road Primary School. We spent six weeks reading Hetty Feather as a book study, and thought it was amazing! Here are all the children's book reviews.Hetty Feather is the best! I recommend this book for everyone! I loved it because it’s exciting as Hetty embarks on her journey to find her real Mother...(Ida!) Good luck with your new Hetty Feather Book (Hetty Feather’s Christmas)P.S This book inspired me and reminded me of myself.Hetty Feather review I really liked it because it was really adventurous and heartbreaking for Ida to leave Hetty all on her own. Why oh why does she have to leave her on her own! Also Ida revealed that she was Hetty's true mother what a sad and happy ever after story that was. It was beautiful when they got back together again it was truly brilliant! Thanks for this amazing story JACKIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I liked Hetty Feather because it is very interesting. The circus was very cool as Madam Adeline picked Hetty when she fell over out of every other people running to the front to go with Madam Adeline on her and her horses but she picked Hetty because she fell over (proves Madam Adeline is a sweet lady). Hetty Feather is quite a lucky girl because she is one of the few children in England that would have an education she was desperate to find her real mother and she finally finds her she is Ida (the kitchen maid).HOW I FOUND HETTY FEATHERIda is Hetty’s mum. Polly is Hetty’s friend.I really loved Hetty Feather because I kind of have the same personality as Hetty Feather and she reminds me of myself, my brother and my dad when we have our adventures, also she has a lot of exciting adventures. My Book Review Of Hetty FeatherI have read Hetty Feather and I think it was FAB because l could feel the emotions that all the characters felt and when I read it, and it's literally so-o touching and builds a good picture for the reader of what Hetty Feather has gone through in her life. It also inspired me to be brave. I would definitely rate this five star and hope other people read this book too.My review of Hetty Feather I've loved Hetty Feather thanks Jacqueline! 1. I loved the moment when Hetty found out Ida was her real mum! 2. I was annoyed when Jem was lying but it was an ok part of the story. 3. It was smart to make - Hetty Feather, Sapphire Battersea, Emerald Star, Your new book Hetty Feather's Christmas! 4. And my last words are good luck with Hetty Feather's Christmas hoping to read it soon.Hetty Feather:] I felt that the book Hetty Feather was really good, because I loved it at the end when I heard that Ida was her real mother and all my class were in shock and I really want to read the book Sapphire Battersea , it looks great :]I felt that the book is very emotional because Lil was coughing blood and the words that were used were detailed. Also when we found out that Ida was Hetty's mother and that her real name was Sapphire it was shocking to the whole class.HOW I FOUND HETTY FEATHER ( Top 10 things in MY opinion! ) I liked these things most 1. How she and Jem fantasied about their future 2. The part when she had to leave her foster family </3 3. How the matrons treated her was sad – But funny at the same time! 4. When Hetty found out Ida was her real mother <3 5. All the bits about ' Savage ' Saul RIP ( Thanks influenza >:C ) 6. When she first met Polly! YAY! 7. How savage she was - How she wanted her opinion to be noticed 8. How she literally knew her birth name was Sapphire ( Great name choice. 9. When Eliza told Hetty about HER Jem (Hetty’s face >:C ) 10. The sad bits were devastating :C DEFINITELY would recommend this at home , School , Work ( if you can! ) , Library , On the bus to read basically anywhere! A great classroom book. Very emotional and sad at parts. Read if you love Victorian Stories! PART 2: Sapphire Battersea PART 3: Emerald Star PART 4: Little Stars PART 5 (Coming soon! ) : Hetty Feathers Christmas.I loved Hetty Feather because she was fostered and she did not know her name, she did not know who was her mother. I just loved it and I can’t believe that Ida was her mother. And Ida followed her into the Foundling Hospital. I do recommend it in schools and homes.I really enjoyed reading Hetty Feather it was so dramatic I would definitely recommend it to a friend. I cried when Hetty found her real mother you should definitely make another book after Little Stars you are one of the best authors in the world.I FEEL HETTY FEATHER WAS VERY INTERESTING AND WAS VERY ADVENTUROUS AND WAS A BIG SHOCK WHEN I FOUND OUT IDA WAS HETTY'S MOTHER AND HER REAL NAME WAS SAPPHIRE I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT BOOK!!!!!!!!I really liked the Hetty Feather book it was great.I loved the Hetty Feather because it is a mystery story and it gets you like what’s going to happen next. Not normally a JW fan but have changed my mind ...
I have to admit that my daughter and I are not huge fans of Jacqueline Wilson's typical reality genre, but we read this together to complement the Victorian Topic she was covering at school. Surprisingly, we were both fully absorbed and hooked on this book. Whilst still maintaining JW's portrayal of the harsh realities of life for some children, it was a complete breath of fresh air to move away from a contemporary setting. Set in VIctorian times, the book, for me, has more substance, character depth and more imagination and for once with a JW novel, I felt compelled to read more by the author. It successfully blends historical reality, with fictional adventure and excitement along with the usual elements of surprise and shock that JW likes to inject to demonstrate that life isn't always comfortable for children - in this case, the shock is finding out about chamber pots, outdoor toilets, beatings and worse - no knickers! Combine all this with some good elements of humour; a bold and strong-willed female character, and the occasional tug at your heart strings, and this is a very gripping and absorbing read. An excellent book for confident readers age 8+

terrific story
We bought this out of historical interest initially as we live near Coram Fields, the site of the Foundling Hospital where Hetty grew up. We read it as a bedtime story to our (then) six year old and he loved it. Hetty is a wonderful heroine; resilient, resourceful, impetuous and brave. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing and the vocabulary as I had heard some negative comments from parents about this author. I gather some reviewers feel her books can be a bit repetitive but this was the first we had read and the description of poverty stricken childhood in Victorian London was fascinating to my son (who is generally only moved by Star Wars!). We have subsequently read the two sequels and loved them both.
