My new BFF
I am an adult who loves this thermos. It's been a lifesaver! It's everything I've ever dreamed of for the past 4 years! I had no idea such a thing existed. And I can't believe in all these years, no one had suggested I get a food thermos! When I think thermos, I think beverage, not food. Never crossed my mind.I work in an office with no microwave. The owner of the company believes microwaves make her sick, so we don't have one. I work for a very small business and literally have no co-workers, so I'm the only one who has to suffer and can't organize any sort of protest over a seemingly frivolous issue. I also only get 30 minutes for lunch, which isn't enough time to go out somewhere to eat (nor do I get paid well enough to do that anyway). So for the past 4 years, every single workday for lunch been limited to the option of yogurt or a cold sandwich. It is SO boring. Yogurt is quick since I can just grab it and go, but totally unfilling. I'm starving again after like, 4 minutes. Sandwiches require preparation and make me late for work. I don't even really like sandwiches...Both become extremely boring, monotonous, tasteless and unsatisfying after being limited to these two options every single weekday for 4 years straight. Some people can choke down cold food that is traditionally eaten hot, but I'm a bit of a picky eater and don't have such talent. On top of that, my office is a cave and all I want by the time lunch rolls around is something nice and HOT to put into my body and warm me up. My job sucks enough as it is - at the very least I want to be able to enjoy my short lunch break, right? It got to the point where I just couldn't stand it anymore and decided to try to find a new job working for a place that had a microwave (so like, any job but this one). Then I found this amazing, magical thermos!!! And it works really well! In the morning, I just heat up some leftovers in my microwave from last night's dinner, get it to nuclear temperature while I'm getting ready for work, dump it in the thermos and 5 hours later when it's time for lunch, it's the perfect amount of hotness. There is such an overwhelming variety of things I can eat for lunch now! Stews, soups, chili, pasta, macaroni, indian food, noodles and more! Such novelties!! I can eat lunch now and without wanting to throw up from being so ultra sick of everything! I am never eating yogurt or a sandwich ever again! Best $15 I've ever spent.I am still looking for a new job, but for reasons other than a lack of microwave. Go thermos!!!

Almost perfect.
This is a great little thermos but I do have a couple of issues:Pros:-Keeps the food hot or cold for the 4-5 hours (put the thermos in the freezer the night before or put boiling water in it for the 10 minutes and it will keep it a good temperature)-Good size for young kids-Stainless steel so it doesn't stain or rustCons:-Narrow opening and can be difficult to get some foods out-Holds 10 oz, which is a good amount for a kid but if it's for an adult you're probably going to want to pack something else as well. I've filled it with spaghetti for my 8 year old daughter and she said it was enough but she ate it all and I wonder how longer it will be "enough"-The lid/rubber ring is not easy to clean. I use my fingernail to get any stuff out which works but is kind of yucky.Side note, we have 2, the blue and yellow and the pink flower with the black bottom and lid. I wrote our name on the bottom of the blue but am not able to write on the black bottom. The pink flower is adorable though, very grown up looking but since it's flowers it's still cute for a child to use and even better, they don't have a character on it.UPDATE: We used these all last year during school and I would freeze things overnight and put them in their backpacks the next day. My daughter has a Pack-it lunchbox and if the lunch box was also frozen the smoothie would still be frozen. My son has a LL Bean lunchbox and would put an ice pack in there, it would be almost frozen at lunch time. My daughter is going through a growth spurt and my fear of not enough has happened. I need to be sure that if I pack spaghetti I still pack an apple or something else along with it. They have held up with no damage and no staining. A word of warning: if you're packing something odiferous like eggs, be sure to rinse the lid as soon as you can because the plastic will absorb the odor.

Great containers that do require some detail cleaning
We have been Foogo customers for several years. I bought this for my nephew who is moving into a school where he needs to have his lunch brought in. We have 4 of these now and use them every day, as we send our kids to school with items we previously cook and warm up the morning of. The quality, and sleek design of these containers is unmatched. They look great, hold up well. I have three little items that for me are not perfect- one is that I wish there were more sizes - at 10 oz for one of my kids who eats normal amounts of food this has been and continues to be perfectly sized. For my other kid, who really likes to eat a lot, this container is a bit too small, and with out going triple the size which would require a camping gear type container, I am not really able to get a 12 or 14 oz container by Foogo. (this is a small peeve). The other one is that these containers have a small rubber ring on the lid which, once removed ( and I removed it on all containers pretty quickly as they are really difficult to clean as well as clean under them) do make the container leak if it is soup you are putting in ( we don't usually send soup so not a big deal). If you are buying it for carrying soup, you will need to keep this rubber ring on and clean it every day. My final peeve is the lid itself - you can see in the picture how deep it is (about an inch) - well, inside there is about a 3 mm hollow space around the edges of the lid and the middle is plastic that is almost as deep as the lid allowing for a screwing mechanism to connect it to the bottom of the container. Well, in those 3 mm ring around the lid, food collects, and every few days, I put a piece of PT on a kitchen knife and when I run it along the inside of the edge, the PT comes out with grease from all the food of the days past - and that is even if the container was in the washer or hand washed. I am not kidding. That said, we are used to how we need to keep it clean now, and are doing that and have not decided to go with another brand.

Works Great No Issue With Food Sticking to Lid
Bought this for my 5 year old. Keeps food warm (not hot) for several hours. I drop my son at school around 7:45 am everyday, so his lunch is made around 6am. I over boil water in microwave and keep in the jar for several minutes. One day (in California winter ~ high 50's to low 60's) my son order lunch at school and didn't eat his mac-n-cheese, when I picked him up early from after school care - around 2:30 pm, the mac-n-cheese was still a little warmer than lukewarm. So I figure around 11:30 am when he's having lunch it's probably still warm. This is even more evident because they leave their lunch on the benches outside until lunch time.I've had this for about 5 months now using it about 3 times per week on average. I can see how some will complain that food will stick to the lid, but that hasn't been a problem for me. Couple of things I do: 1) I make sure the teeth of the jar is clean before I close it every morning and 2) I make sure that I wash the lid very well and immediately when the jar comes back home. I have to admit when I first saw it, keeping the lid clean was a big concern (the biologist in me just raised tons of red flags) and I really thought I probably couldn't keep it clean, but it's been 5 months now and the lid is still squeaky clean.Almost 4 years now and it's still almost like new. A few scratches on the inside but nothing bad. The outside is very very slightly battered. However, the bottom is coming loose, but that's more my wife's fault for steaming the thing. So putting money where my mouth is, or more my children's, I just bought 2 more: a Pink and a Blue.

Works as stated and then some!
A more current review for anyone considering this item, as based on some of the previous reviews, I was hesitant to purchase and had guarded expectations, but we would have missed out on a great prdouct! I bought this last month for my daughter and so far, it has performed great, as it is supposed to. For warm foods, I do pre-warm it with, not even boiling but very hot water, for a about 10 minutes, then put the food (usually soup but have done, e.g., potstickers, too) in directly off the heat, and she says she would call it not just warm, but actually still "hot", when she eats it anywhere from 4 to 4.5 hours later. I therefore expect that it would stay at least a bit warm for an additional hour or more. So maybe actually beware if you have a really little one to let food cool before putting it in, since it may be too hot when they go to eat :) Another great thing about it and good thing for parents to know. . . you can close this tight enough to not leak without having to screw it super tight, so that young hands can get it open independently. In other words, adults would be tempted to twist it at least a half turn more to feel like it is closed "all the way", but this is not necessary to prevent leaking, and it would be too tight for most kids under 10 or 12 to get it open by themselves. And yes, I tested it first, both the leak factor and how tight it could be and my 7-year old still able to get it open by herself. I recommend this product, for kids and adults; worst case, at this price here online, at least try it and see for yourself. You will pay anywhere from $10 to $18 more buying it in a store. Enjoy!
