GM / 2007 Cadillac Escalade Updated Valve Cover - Oil Consumption and White Smoke
Before installing this "updated / revised design" valve cover I was losing approximately 1 quart of oil per 300-400 miles. In addition, at start-up I would sometimes get a plume of white smoke. I mean a PLUME. People probably thought it was a Cheech and Chong Movie going on nearby......like that. Smoke cloud would go away completely after 10-15 seconds. The vehicle ran perfectly during that time with no external leaks or burning smells. The 1st indicator of a problem was literally the indicator. "Oil Pressure Low; Oil Level Low". Checked oil and it was around a quart to 1.5 low. That's when my research, testing and diagnosis began. I'm no mechanic, but from research I understand the problem with the old valve cover is its ability to retain oil in the upper section, allowing oil to be vacuumed up into the PVC, then ending up in the combustion chamber, then settling when I park, igniting at start-up causing the smoke cloud of burning oil. This new valve covers internal design allows oil to drain properly from the upper section back down to the rockers, not allowing excessive oil build up that can be vacuumed out and into the combustion chamber. This valve cover comes with a gaskets and grommets. However, I changed mine to new Fel-Pro gaskets and grommets. Fel-Pro has a great reputation in the gasket world. After the install. Drove 400 miles. No smoke at any start-ups and ZERO oil consumption. It seems the problem is solved. Easy 30 minute install with a 10mm and 8mm w/ torque wrench. Valve cover 8mm - Torque to 106 inch lbs or 9 ft lbs or 12 nm). 10 mm is for the coil pack removal, no torque just get then tight. There's tons videos.... Good Luck

Oil consumption has stopped - perfect fit.
I was loosing oil around the gasket but also thru the faulty design of the original valve cover on my 2004 Silverado 1500 4x4 (5.3). This came with the gasket, fit perfectly and now I have no leaking gasket and no consumption of oil thru the valve cover pvc vent. I did not make any modifications. Just installed this as it came since it is the new design. I was using alot of oil and now the only noticeable loss is the tiny drip from what I believe is coming from the rear main. Very happy with these covers.

Good replacement cover for the 5.3
Looks to be a good cover replacement for the drivers side 5.3 valve cover with the vent. Baffle design different than oem to prevent oil splashing up into the vent when the rockers are pumping or driving on a steep uphill. All i did was clean the motor with degreaser and after i removed the coils with 5 / 10 mm bolts. Then used an 8mm to remove the 4 cover bolts it popped right off. Cleaned the inside of the new cover with alcohol and removed the loose casting with a blade and installed and torqued to 96 in lbs or 8 ft lbs. make sure the gasket stays put when lowering the cover on. Push the screws outward so you can maneuver the cover on easier without getting hung up. Easy as pie and no more smoking after a hard run or steep climb.

Nice updated valve cover design.
Installed on 2005 Chevrolet Z71 with 5.3 and it fixed the smoke at start up. The original valve cover had the same type pcv orifice tube (not a valve) but didn't have the updated baffle design causing bad blow by. I also installed a catch can...perfect set up engine starts and runs like new!

Fixed oil consumption problem
Fixed oil consumption problem in 2002 silverado with 89,000. I would highly recommend not using the gasket seal it came with. Had to pull back off and put felpro because they where leaking around three out of the four bolts that hold it on.
