DRAWING FACIAL EXPRESSIONS In this lesson you’ll discover how changing one element on the face can drastically (or subtly) change its entire shape and expression. You’ll develop a keen eye and learn to spot these differences from the start—saving you time, energy, and drawing paper. SHAPES OF THE EYE Darrel takes a closer look at the role perspective plays on the perceived shape of the eyeball. You’ll see how a simple change in the tilt of the face completely changes how much of the eyeball you see and the shape it takes on. DRAWING THE EYE: PART 1 In this first part of a three-part series on drawing an eye, Darrel demonstrates the importance of finding the perfect balance between complementing your subject and going overboard with details. DRAWING THE EYE: PART 2 Darrel guides you through the refining process in this insightful class, providing you with tips for evaluating your own work. You’ll use your 4H pencil to go back over your freehand sketch and check angles, reform lines, and build up value. DRAWING THE EYE: PART 3 Your drawing of the eye will go from dull to dimensional in this class. With your form and base layer of graphite down, you’ll turn your attention to separating features and bringing depth and dimension to the eye as a whole. Plus, get familiar with your softer pencils as you build up value and create life-giving dimension.
