Regarding my second set of 1,000 cranes...
I ordered one of these kits about 10 years ago and completed the 1,000 cranes including stringing them in about 2 1/2 months of my free time. Once I got accustomed to folding a crane, I could fold cranes at about one per 3 minutes. However, I strung them in order of the colors and it looks nice but not as good as I could. Back in early April 2018, I ordered a second set. I wanted to challenge myself again to folding another thousand cranes. This time I folded all the cranes in about 2 months. But to date, I haven't strung them yet, I want to take my time to do it right, and better. This time I will string them in a rainbow pattern so it looks as good as I hoped.I folded one crane color at a time using gallon sized ziplock-style bags to hold the folded cranes, and a quart-sized bag for the unfolded papers. I used an office-style accordion file briefcase with about 28 separate folder areas. I numbered each bag 1 through 20 with each color in order, adding an F (for folded) along with the matching color numbers for storing the folded cranes; 18 and 18F for example. Now it is time to string my cranes. Since I can't read the Japanese printing on the kit box (I'm guessing the "60m" on the package means 60 meters of string), I tried to find out the length of the string available, so I don't have too little per string of cranes (making it difficult to join all the strings once finished), or too much (causing me to run out of string before all the cranes were strung). After some internet searching, I came to the commonly agreed length of about 1 meter per string, when there are 25 strings of 40 cranes each.I learned from my mistakes with the first Senbazuru I folded, and I hope my review will help others to make a beautiful Senbazuru of their own.I've added three pictures of my first attempt as an example on one way to string the cranes.

Blown Away
This is the fourth senbazuru I've made and the first time I bought a kit for it. Formerly I've made squares from old homework or magazines and the simple act of making squares took forever. This has saved me so much time. After working for only two weeks (and only two days a week) I'm already past 250 cranes. Part of the reason that this is going so quickly is the small size of the paper. I never realized how much of an effect the paper size has on making folding cranes. One complaint I saw was that the dye has a tendency to rub off. This is somewhat true: after making a number of cranes on my desk there were a few blue spots left on the surface but they wiped right off. I don't think that this is a real problem unless maybe you plan to do your origami in your wedding dress. Another potential problem is that all the directions are in Japanese. But if you are considering a making a senbazuru and don't know how to make cranes and/or how to string them up when your're done the internet has plenty of help. Speaking of stringing them up this kit comes with string and beads so all you really need is a needle. All in all this is a great kit that I'll most likely use if I get around to making a fifth senbazuru.

Everything You Need
This kit has everything you need to make a senbazuru, including the thread and some beads. There are 51 sheets of each of the 20 colors so you are afforded at least 1 extra sheet in case of mistakes, or if one happens to fly off.I had initially planned to make a mobile-style display, but ended up using the 1020 cranes to fill a 24x36in box frame (with a 11x14in picture frame inside) as a baby shower gift.Took 8 days to fold all of the cranes, but that required committing hours of folding every day (at a rate of around 2hrs per 51 cranes). Thumbs and fingers felt like someone had run them over with a tank by the end of it... but totally worth it, given the end result.Someone else recommended to store them in quart-sized baggies, and that was very helpful with keeping them organized. If you want to kill some time and kill your fingers (and get something pretty at the end of it), you should get this kit.

Perfect for group projects
Love the vibrant colors; the kit came in a 20 spectrum rainbow of different colors. Note the smaller paper size of 3" X 3" rather than the more typical 5" X 5" (but makes a cute smaller bird that takes up less space). Makes cute cranes! Perfect for a group project.***** UPDATE *****It took us about 7 months for two people to fold the kit of 1,000 paper cranes. I've uploaded pictures of our project so you can get more of an idea of what the kit looks like, and how our project turned out. As far as getting 1000 pieces of origami paper, I do not know of a cheaper/better deal. Undertaking folding a 1000 cranes is a more time consuming project than you might first realize. We each could fold about 20 birds a week, folding a few minutes per day, or an hour total. Between the two of us we could fold about 40 birds per week. We could have maybe done it faster with a larger time commitment, but keep in mind your fingers (not to mention hands, arm, neck, and back) get tired after a while! I think it could make a great project for a larger group (a school or classroom?). I am still as satisfied with the kit 7 months later than I was at the time when we purchased it!

Always happy to receive the package!
Being in the States, I am very glad that I can still make paper cranes with papers of good quality at a reasonable price. Thank you.

good pack, inconsistent paper texture
First, all of the instructions are in japanese, as expected. So if you do not speak Japanese, you may need to do some additional research to figure out how to bring it together. The paper is small, about the size of your palm. When creasing some colors, it stains your fingers. The paper texture and thickness changes a bit based on color. Its not drastic but it is enough to need to adjust your folding a bit.Overall, definitely recommend.
