Great basic pack BUT…
Now, let me tell u my story. I bought this wonderful pack, and it is a beautiful pack (except the magnetic clips(useless) and the fact it hangs way too low on ur back.) The problem is I was charged twice for this pack and the company did absolutely nothing to procure this. I mean nothing. They told me I had to go to amazon to get the charges dropped, WTF! I called my bank and had them cancel the charge. Why did I have to do this? This says nothing about the quality of the pack. The pack is one cool pack, sooo retro. Ok it hangs low on my back so to fix this I crossed the shoulder straps and sewed them together. See attached pics. This solved the problem. I didn't like the magnetic "clasps" (they're cant secure anything) used to "secure" to cover flap over the main bag. so I sewed the buckles next to the magnets and angled them slightly so they aligned with straps better (see pic) The lining inside posed a slight problem when sewing though. I don't care if I have to mod this pack, It makes it mine. The important thing is that it's a beautiful basic pack to work with. I do hope the manufacturer reads this and improves on they're design. But they probably won't.

Almost Perfect....
I am completely impressed so far with this backpack so far. I examined and read, a lot of pictures and customer reviews, before deciding on a purchase. I needed a bag that would fit some daily essentials, (laptop, cords and cables etc, lunch, phone, pens, notebook) and additional supplies on an as needed basis. A lot of bags seem to fit the mold but I needed different compartments for quick or easy access to certain items like my phone. It was also important to me to not have to make this purchase again too soon. In a customer reviews I read about the lack of protection in the compartment where you strap your laptop in and I agree with those assessments. I also agree that there should be thicker canvass or leather at the base of the backpack. This would make the bag even more aesthetically pleasing, provide better durability, and increase its load capacity. The only other concern I have is that it is not waterproof. I Having said that, I purchased a laptop sleeve to compensate for the lack of laptop protection. I also treated the bag with rain and stain protector. The bag seems to be very well made. Given the size of the compartment where the laptop goes I can easily fit the 16" laptop sleeve into it and if I go larger I don't see why I couldn't fit a larger sleeve inside. I also enjoy the different places to put things...no more sifting through my whole day of supplies to find a pen. It's comfortable and almost perfect for a guy in his 40's. I intend to buy a few more as going to college gifts for my nephews this year, so OBVIOUSLY, I have no regrets about the purchase. If It were waterproof and offered more laptop protection I would rate it 5 stars.

I wasted my money BIGTIME, did not work for me at all
EXTREMELY FLIMSY, NO STRUCTURE WHATSOEVERIt is not square like the picture and collapses like a t-shirt when on the ground.Buckles fly open as the magnets are not strong. I super glued the magnets together so I could use the buckles, but now it takes 8 minutes to get into my bagFORGET ABOUT A LAPTOP, it will flop around the bag and hit the floor every time you put your bag downThis bag sucks. If you want it, then save $50 and go and just get a laundry bag at wal-mart. I'm serious

and ended up with a good bag that has some notable flaws
After reviewing many back packs I selected this one...and ended up with a good bag that has some notable flaws. The size of the bag is perfect. A little larger than most but it will hold whatever I need to bring with me. The additional pockets...great. They allow for organization and additional storage. It also has some issues with construction. This is a soft bag so no reinforced shape...this is not good for a laptop unless you add padding to protect the computer. The canvas material is great, but the snaps are cheap and probably won't last. One of the snaps broke the FIRST time I used it. The straps have a strange magnetic clasp hidden under the buckles. Odd thing to put on the back pack... I gave this three stars out of five...for good material, good size, and prompt delivery. I took away 2 stars...one for faulty workmanship and one for poor hardware.I decided to keep the bag and took it to a friend who has an industrial type sewing machine. She will double stitch everything, make the straps and snaps actually usable, and get rid of the magnets. Once this is done I believe that this will be THE backpack that I have been looking for...

missed the mark
I really wanted to like this bag. It has a good look that I like but it fails for practical use. First and foremost of the fails is the shape itself. It is a big bag and it hangs on your back just like a big grocery bag, doesn't hold a shape and has no structure. Also I never really trusted anything valuable in the outer pockets due to the magnetic strap system. while it would detract from the look I would really like to see zippers to secure items. The first time I used it was while traveling through Europe on the trains. The straps do not hold position and constantly slip requiring readjustment. My wife took it with us on a recent beach vacation to Mexico. She found it to be a bottomless pit that she could not find her items in and because of the weight of the bag itself did not like it either.

This backpack exceeded my expectations!
This backpack was bought to carry my 17" Alienware XPS laptop, which fit perfectly, along with my Tamrac Velocity 9x camera backpack (loaded with a 1/2 ton of expensive and heavy camera equipment) all stuffed into the main compartment. There was still room for a few clothes, as well as in all the side pockets. This back with all this gear still fit in the overhead compartment, and even underneath the seat ahead of me, in the airplane. I really, really like the rugged good looks of this pack, and especially the "tobacco" color of the heavy duty canvas (see photos). I weighed this bag after it was all packed with my gear and it weighed just over 41 lbs. I carried this through the airports to and from Alaska to my home in Ohio and it was not only comfortable to carry, but it showed no signs of tearing, ripping, or stretching in any of its construction. This baby is rugged! Absolutely the best $49 I ever spent! You need to get you one! (pardon the bad grammar)
