I bought this book for my teenage daughter who is very interested in historic fashions. This book is wonderful as it is arranged chronically and illustrates the shift in 'fashions' from 1860 to 1914. The pictures are beautiful and very well done, and easy to see the detail of the dresses, swimming outfits, riding habits etc..The only drawback to this book is that it gives you so many ideas, it is hard to decide what to sew next. I would recommend this book to all re-enactors of this historic time frame.

The book is beautiful but the pictures are in B & W. Each page has a description of the item shown. It would be a much nicer book if in colour.

I have used this book as a resource to help in creating historically accurate Victorian ball gowns. I am not Cinderella, but I do get to go to the ball once in a while, and I want to be as historically correct as possible! Great for those who want accuracy.

If you are looking for a comprehensive book about victorian fashion, this is it! look no further. My one and only complain is that I would have loved to get fashion examples from the early victorian period, as it is something almost impossible to find. However I was very satisfied with the book. Worth every penny.

Stunning photos of fashion plates...I love it for a reference guide for clothing & colors used

I bought this for my daughter who sells and collects vintage clothing. She said it was a great reference and she will use it a lot in her business. Great illustrations and descriptions make it a wonderful addition to her library.Highly recommended.

I thought the drawings were great for a study group. All drawings. No photos.

Good history and beautiful pictures

this book is a very good look into the past, i am a Barbie doll dress maker offashions through the ages, in this book there is a vast amount to keep me going foryears to come, the drawings are in black and white so mabye you could gently colour in the pictures with GOOD qulity artist pencils,good book for the money.

This is an excellent book for anyone interested in the clothing of this era; the detailed descriptions of the materials and colours used to create these gowns adds an extra dimension to the fun and makes envisioning them in all their glory that much easier.

En mi opinion una preciosidad visual en donde con sus 212 paginas puedes ver y hacerte una amplia idea de la moda de la epoca victoriana y eduardiana. Tanto de vestuario como de complementos a lo largo de todos los años. Un compra recomendada para los amantes de este mundo.

Un libro fatto piuttosto bene e con illustrazioni decenti. Interessante per chi ama la moda. Bel regalo per chi magari ha già tutto.

Bought this as a present for my wife who makes reproduction dolls and loves this book for making authentic costumes. She loves the book. Problem with Amazon is I'm buying a new book and each one arrives with either binding or bent corner damage. I returned the first one with damage to binding and one of the corners. The replacement also had damage to one of the corners (not just the cover, but bent a quarter of the way through the book). Looks like Amazaon does not package well, or their inventory is not first class.
