Plan to spend hours washing, scraping, and sticking it if you get rocks like the ones I did.
I see there are some other reviews here that reflect my experience. The rocks I received were completely jammed up with sand in all of the holes. The product description says washed rock, and the images show it clean. With mine, I had to spend hours and gallons of water spraying, and using a metal pick to chip into the compacted sand, and I mean very compacted, to clean out the holes. Some of the sand was reddish and very hard. It took a lot of work, and I lost any savings I thought I was getting in time and water costs to get the rock to a usable state. If it was not winter, I would have tried pressure washing, but I'm certain I would have still needed to pick in the holes with a metal tool to get this stuff loose. I'm not talking about sand like you can wash out by spraying the rock, I mean stuff compacted and hardened by pressure and time. I think this rock was dug up from the bottom of a deep pit and stuck in the box with zero washing at all. If you look at the videos you will see two rocks before and two rocks after cleaning them. The metal tool I'm using was broken in the process of doing this, so I lost the value of that.If anyone gets rock like mine and puts it in their tank they will absolutely regret it. The rock won't be porous enough at first, and over time the sand will end up blowing around in their tank. I prefer to choose which sand I add to my tank, not have mystery stuff leaching out of the rock. I'm not sure if the reddish sand that was on about 20% of the rocks would be a problem releasing iron or other unwanted minerals into the tank.I would not buy this again. For a little more I could have had clean dry rock that was ready to cycle. It wasn't worth the time, water, and blisters on my fingers from cleaning this stuff.

Sad at first, but then, happy!
Update 2/26/19: is fine, these rocks are purple and the fish love it. I have run into no issues at all. Still happy.Ps, please over look the typos below. Stupid autocorrect...Good clean rock. My other tank, a 30 gallon, I used a mix of rocks. I used some pukini live rock, Fiji live rock, Tonga branch, a piece from the local fish store and some dry base rock such as this, from another online merchant. The base dry rock matured the same as the other types of rock and looks fine. When I first opened the box and pulled these rocks out I felt a high degree of sadness come over me because I had realized these rocks were harvested from a dead coral bed from dry dead corals that were once long ago alive beautiful and had once flourished with life in beautiful fish and other creatures from the sea but now they are dead and fossilized in this piece of Rock. As you may know the coral reefs in the ocean are slowly dying and being destroyed by shipping boats amongst other things. But the more I thought about it a wave of happiness came over me because I soon realized that these dead rocks and fossilized pieces of coral are going to be brought back to life as I rejuvenate them with more beautiful corals and fish. Alive again in a small 60 gallon habitat. This base rock is really dead coral. Not concrete, as another reviewer said. If you look close enough you can actually see little pieces of dead coral and seashells in these rocks. They are porous and have many cavities, not to mention the variety of sizes from small to large. For a 55 gallon tank, these are great. My new tank is a 60 gallon in fees will fit the tank just fine like others have said be sure to take these out back and give them a good wash with the hose because they are pretty dirty from the warehouse. I wouldn't wash these in the sink or in the bathtub because when you're wincing these off small bits of rock will come off and I would be afraid they would clog up the drains to be sure and rinsed he's outside. This is really amazing Rock for a price you just cannot beat and with Amazon Prime services or free shipping it's a deal you cannot pass up play season your tank get another piece of live rock to seed and you're good to go. What's even better since this is dried dead Rock there is no need to worry about all the nasty hitchhikers that might accompany live pieces of rock from your local fish store or other online retailers.Bottom line is I am 100% satisfied and if someday I decide to upgrade to another larger tank I will be sure to buy more of this.

Amazing deal!
I am well beyond impressed and not just the quantity but also the size of these rocks. Pictures doesn't do them justice but I took a few of them in my hand just so you can appreciate the size of them. They are beautiful!

These rocks are a great deal at less than $1
These rocks are a great deal at less than $1.15 per pound when I purchased them. I've bought the more expensive rocks online from BRS and also in my LFS but never paid this price. These rocks are just as good, if not quite as porous, as higher cost rock. What you get are pretty dense rocks that are also somewhat brittle. I do not recommend going at these with a brush as you'll take off a lot of the interesting shape. The listing says you get two pieces and I suppose that's possible. What I got though were 5 large pieces (approx. 12 inch diameter), 5 smaller pieces (approx. 6 inch diameter) and assorted pieces of rubble that I'm sure broke off during shipping. They don't even attempt to pack these - They just throw rocks into a box, tape it up and send it on it's way. I bet the UPS man was happy about the dust pouring from the box!If you do end up with 2 pieces, I imagine you can easily break these rocks with a chisel (or screw driver) and hammer. As I said, they are quite brittle. That would mean a bit more work on your part but at this price, you're still getting a great deal.
