Carrom 510.01 Balance Board

The media could not be loaded.  This is an awesome balance board! I bought it in 2004, and it has held up really well for the past 9 years. Amazon was out of stock for a couple of years, so I'm super glad that it's back in stock, so I can recommend it to my friends.This board is different than other balance boards that I've used, and I really liked that. Even if you have another balance board, I'd recommend this one, too. It's probably most similar to skateboarding or snowboarding, but it will help your balance in any sport. It took me about three weeks to get to the point that I am today, but I started out super uncoordinated. You'll probably pick it up much faster. I thought it was a great balance board to learn on, too. I definitely felt a sense of accomplishment after I got my balance enough to stay up on it for a minute or two.It says the weight limit is 300 lbs, but this is super sturdy. I think it would actually work anywhere up to a 400 pound person.It's pretty simple. You just roll back and forth and balance on top of it. If you got really good at it, you could do tricks and turns, but I'm not good enough to do much more than roll back and forth. I feel like it's really good exercise, too, and you could use weights on it, too, if you got to be really good at it.Pros:+Works on any surface. I've used it mostly on carpet.+Extremely sturdy. It would be very hard to break this.+Helps you prepare your balance for any sport or activity+Low impact, so you can use this even if you have sore joints+After you get used to it, you could watch TV, play video games, or read a book while you're balancingCons:-Very simple. You just roll back and forth.

This product was exactly how I thought it would be; actually, in a way, it was better, because I thought it would be way hard. If a reasonably coordinated person kept at it for half an hour, he/she would balance great! It's a lot of fun, not boring at all, you can do lots of things while on it, like watch TV or listen to your mp3 player. And once you get the hang of it, there's no reason to stop -you can learn cool tricks; the things you can do with a balance board are endless!As for how durable it is, it's very durable. I've used it on cement sidewalks, tile floors, carpets, and its been absolutely fine! When you're outside you can roll some dirt onto the roller, but that's not a problem to me. Just don't bring it back inside somewhere clean again ;) I haven't experienced any of the complaints that other reviewers have had in their comments.I definitely recommend this product to people of all ages!

This product looked like it was going to be great from the picture on-line, but once we got it opened and saw how it had to be put together and the cheap wooden parts, we were very disappointed. We did follow the instructions to put it together (the "roller" part is a combination of round and square pieces of wood that alternate on a metal rod)and found that it didn't even work. Our overall opinion is that this Balance board will be the cheapest one you find on-line, in price as well as in quality!

I bought this product because it was the least expensive balance board I could find. I'm hoping it will improve my balance and also prepare me for learning how to snowboard (I've read elsewhere that it is supposed to be good training and strengthening) So far I absolutely love it. It is a GREAT workout, and it doesnt seem to get boring...even though its basically a piece of wood on top of a cylinder lolI did have a few problems... When I first ordered the board, the one that came was defective. The screw in the cylinder part was stripped, and when I was on the board, it kind of um... fell apart. BUT, it really wasn't a problem because when I called the customer service number that came with the package, they sent me a brand new board and cylinder completely FREE. And the new one is built sturdy and is fine. Another problem is that the board I'm using is starting to appear somewhat warped...it doesn't lay flat on the floor anymore... this really isn't a problem as far as performance, but I'm wondering how long the board is going to last.A few recommendations:1. DO NOT use the balance board on any rough surfaces, it will ruin the wood of the cylinder.2. The board is best on a smooth surface...wood, vinyl, tile, cement, or a very thin flat rug. It moves too slow on carpet.3. Be prepared that the first time you use the board you might feel a bit dizzy lol I did at least... but it goes away the more you use it and the more comfortable you get4. Start off holding on to something lol otherwise you may go flying... But again as you get more comfortable it becomes A LOT of fun... Some people can even do tricks with it... No clue how lol but that's what Ive heard...So overall I would definitely recommend this product for anyone who is looking for strengthening/training in balance, a good workout, or just some fun. Even with the minor problems I've had, it is still a great product and a lot less expensive then other balance boards out there.

My nine year olds used these at school for their PE class and came home and asked for one. I told them they could pool their money and I would order it. It arrived quickly and they have had hours of fun on it. Even my husband and I have enjoyed balancing on it. It is a fun and entertaining way to get some exercise and strengthen muscles. The quality has been good and has held 200+lb people without hesitation.
